Cybill’s relationship with the director of The Last Picture Show was neither the first nor the last time that Cybill would develop a relationship with someone on one of her sets. In fact, the director wasn’t even the only person on the set of The Last Picture Show that Cybill became involved with! Cybill reportedly started an affair with costar Jeff Bridges around the same time she did with the film’s director.

Cybill would cool down on her propensity for hooking up with her leading men later in her career, but she had a hard time following this rule when it came time to star alongside Bruce Willis on the 1980s series Moonlighting. This series kicked off a second phase of Cybill’s career after the actress had faded from the spotlight on the big screen. After the cancellation of Moonlighting, Cybill was given her own self-titled series, with that being 1995’s Cybill.

According to Cybill Shepherd herself, Cybill suffered an early cancellation after its star turned down the romantic advances of since-disgraced CBS executive Les Moonves. Although the executive has received his comeuppance since, the damage it did to Cybill’s career was irreversible. In the years since facing harassment from Les Moonves, Cybill has successfully battled melanoma and lived to see the birth of her first grandchild. IMHO Cybill Shepherd was great in Moonlighting. She wasn't exactly Oscar caliber in her early acting career, she was ok in Taxi Driver, but she became much better later on. No matter what, she always was stunningly beautiful. Only natural that guys were drooling all over her.

I can not pretend to know Cybill Shepherd. I do know and have proof from a response to fan mail that I sent as part of an assignment in high school. I was at a difficult time in my teens. Great job, and was wondering where she went! Cybil is only a couple of years younger than I am so I've been following her life and career ever since the 1960s! Since I worked as a fashion illustrator in NYC in the late 1960s through the 1970s before I got married and had three daughters, I remember buying Glamour magazine with her on the cover and bought that mag well into my 40s. I think she looked the most gorgeous in "Moonlighting", stunning, when Bruce Willis had hair! lol Thanks for sharing the updates.

I worked for a major fashion advertising agency in the 60's, and we used her sporadically. A lot of pretty faces to choose from, only the name rang a bell when Last Picture Show premiered in 1971.
We in advertising couldn't believe she became such a superb actress. Some claimed it was a different person! She was very chameleon; our stylists loved her!

Cybil Sheppard is one of those actors who never quite made it as far as she thought she would. Years ago I was working a show with her, and Prima Dona is the word that comes to mind. She definitely had ideas way above her station.

I just finished reading her book from a few years ago "Cybill Disobedience". She is very honest in her book. She really lived life impulsive and passionate. She was a real beauty. Hard to be that pretty and not give in to temptation. She describes herself as a big brassy blonde. Seems to be a good mother.
