I actually live two streets from Chartist Way in Newport and it’s one of the streets they passed on their way into the town centre.

If anyone ever visits Manchester there's an old library in the center called the John Ryland's Library.

Give it a visit, you can read documents from the Peterloo massacre and the ridiculously small amounts of compensation given to the people.

Manchester was the home of the industrial revolution, working people's suffrage, woman's suffrage and much more. I love this city

There's also an amazing section on the 1969 moon landings as a lot of the pre processing and planning took place at Manchester University in collaboration with NASA

you forgot how the British stopped aid going to Ireland during the great famine of 1845-1849 notably by the influential London Times, which argued that giving money to Ireland would have the same effect as throwing money into an Irish bog. at the same time, they allowed vast amounts of foodstuffs like grain to be exported from Ireland. Merchants made large profits while people starved.

this lead to the death of millions. 
Out of a population of eight-and-a-half million, over one million people died, and approximately two million people emigrated.
it was so bad the population still hasn't recovered

Bloody Sunday, or the Bogside Massacre, was a mass shooting on 30 January 1972 in the Bogside area of Derry, Northern Ireland, when British soldiers shot 26 unarmed civilians during a protest march against internment without trial.

The Newport Uprising mural 09:36 was demolished in 2013. I still don't understand how or why this was approved when the Newport Centre redevelopment plans were made. Imagine a building with a blue plaque being demolished and the plaque thrown away? The mural meant a lot to the people of Newport. Why couldn't the redevelopment plans have incorporated the mural? Maybe there are people in positions of power who don't want the common people being reminded of the uprising?
