Haha, I never grabbed the 4th plug, so I ended up soldering my obd2 port right to the ecm pins haha. Watching this makes me miss my 4runner in the early days :(

It’s a shielded wire to prevent stray voltage from
altering the signal wire. One end gets taped off the other end gets grounded. May want to check the rest of your shielded wires going to the ecm. Or all the grounds in general. You know the ecm doesn’t control power flow. It switches grounds. Power is constant at most connections (like the starter for example) just waiting for a ground (starter signal wire) to ground out to complete the circuit. A bad or loose ground can cause all kinds of random issues

HAHAHA glad I wasn't the only one that thought to make a OBDII wiring video for 3.4 swaps. If your still running an auto ecu with your manual trans I have a video for those annoying codes.

Hey man, out of curiosity, what were the other two wires in that ecm plug you had wired up? I didn't know there were any other wires needing wired up there besides the obd2

Which Pin on the right most connector is the signal wire for the OBD2 plug? Is it Pin 18(SDL)?
