I have an HP laptop and just experienced "Getting Windows Ready Don't turn off ....".
when I did a Restart. It was stuck for a long time. I finally quit and turned it off..
and on again. Same problem. STUCK. Pulled out the mouse USB, unplugged the power
cord, removed the battery and let it stay that way about 20 minutes. Put them all
back again. Then I turned it on - no more Getting Windows Ready... the HP logo came
up and bingo - back to business again.

In my case I waited for about 1 hour and then my laptop started to update. Usually, for the updates it may took too long so be patient because turning off your laptop will may cause a problem on your windows.

edit : I restarted because I set nVidia to be the default instead of Intel HD

I think you guys should just wait, i waited for 3 hours and it done (W10 Home original). Turn off your automatically update and maintenance, also dont restart when the airplane mode is on just in case the update or maintenance is active.

I can't even log in. As soon as it boots up it takes me to that screen. So I can't access control panel or anything. Any solutions?

Didn't work for me.
Guys, here's solution.
Go to services, find 'Windows update' press it and there'll be
Automatic, manual, disabled in the box. Choose disabled and press ok. That's all. It works 100%

Here's a solution: If nothing works and you've tried turning it off and on again, just wait until it loads or wait until it runs out of battery.
