Im from Pakistan and a word of advice, scammers like these are extremely common and get aggressive really quickly.. when this guy started getting angry he kept saying "Why are you getting physical man????"
So, moral of the story, eventhough its tempting, try to stay away from these kinds of ppl.. especially if you're a foreigner

Great for the guy helping him. Take care of the tourists that's your lively hood. I was in Costa Rica on the beach, and this guy mugged a girl and took her purse and the locals chased him down and put the boots to him until the policia showed up because that's how they make money and they genuinely cared about the community
