Cowboy Kent: I could not watch your show on duty in Afghanistan in combat a lot in the USMC, but someone told me about you, and now I follow you a lot. Helps me heal some. I got the book and your seasoning. Now I cook and fish for peace of mind. Bless you sir.

Kent, I tried this recipe, and my husband and I love it! In Sept 2022, my 37 year old son-in-law received news that his 2nd battle with cancer was about to begin. After he began cancer treatment, I made a batch of this goulash and took it to him and my daughter. This is about the only food he can eat due to nausea. So this lasts about 3 days. I am so thankful I found your delicious recipe. I never would have thought of what a blessed meal this would become... Thank you!

*I wanted to add that this has become the dish I have ready for him each time after he has his chemo. I made a batch today, first meal he's been able to keep down. I will continue to make "Kent's Goulash" after each treatment.

*September 15, 2023
I am saddened to share my precious son in law passed away. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 25, 2023. He fought long and hard. What an amazing young man.
He leaves behind his wife and 2 and a half year old son.

Fun fact: Goulash (originally: Gulyás) means Cowboy in hungarian. The name of the original dish (that's a thick soup made on open fire) is "Gulyás leves" that means Cowboy soup. That was shortened to goulash in foreign languages.

Just a guy who loves cooking, loves feeding others, and loves his country. Doesn't get any better than that!

As a Vietnam Veteran, I appreciate your recognition-Thank You. As for your goulash, it brings back memories of my Mom's goulash and cornbread. It definitely is one of my all-time favorites. Thanks for the awesome vid.

I've had the same cast iron pans for more that 40 years. I cook EVERYTHING in them. Nothing hurts them, because they are well seasoned and well cared for.

Hi Mr Kent, My name is Megan. I'm 10 years old. I love watching your YouTube channel with my mom. I'm going to ask my mom to make this dinner.

We ate this stuff by the metric ton growing up, and my Hungarian grandmother also called it both goulash and slumgullion (she also made the authentic Hungarian goulash, as well.) I almost always added a dash of parmesan to mine. Cheap, filling, and covers your protein, carbohydrate, and veggies requirements!

Can you love this man and his family any more? What fine Americans they are. Thanks for bringing a little joy this way Kent!

Hungarian paprika is usually spicy & Spanish paprika is often mild. Hungarian Goulash is the bomb. I tried it at a restaurant in Toronto called The Black Tulip. Outstanding!

My grandma made this for my dad growing up and he made it for me growing up. So cheap and easy, tastes good, and feeds a whole family for days

Kent I about fell out of my chair when you called it slum gullum. I haven’t heard it called that for 50 years. I always thought it was some crazy name my Dad come up with. Thanks for another great recipe and for always flying old glory. It truly is a great day to be above the grass. God bless you and yours as much as he’s blessed mine.

This takes me back to my childhood! I come from a large family and this recipe stretched my parents grocery bill and fed us well.

As children, my siblings and I called this "Daddy's Casserole" because it was something that my dad always made on nights that mum couldn't do the cooking. We looked forward to it SO much!

Thanks Kent for bringing back great memories of my childhood. Sometimes as kids we really don't understand to appreciate the best things in life.... Now as in a grown man I sure do miss my mom's goulash... Just as you described how the cowboys may have felt with a nice hot helping of something to eat on a cold wet and or snowy day is just exactly the way I used to feel when coming in the house and smelling something hot and delicious on Mom's stove top... It will never be the same as when you're 12 years old....

You crack me up, Kent! I’m a big fan of beef goulash and I love how versatile it is. Literally hundreds of different ways. Came across this video while looking for a new version. I’m trying this tomorrow! Thanks for respecting the flag. I served the US Army for 20 years & retired in 2019. Love your content! Please keep making more videos! -Derek from Wildwood, Missouri
