To those who haven’t seen the series Tony actually makes one of the most rational minded moves any gangster could. He realized Junior was operating out of ego and that he himself (Tony) already held pretty much all the power and respect Junior just wanted for himself. So he went to Junior, apologized, hugged him, then proceeded to pretty much hole him up in his house and completely run the mob on his own
