I & others wear their rings all the time, in or outside the lodge!
I've even seen North American Bro's do so, as well as having car stickers!
So the jewellery thing, might be jurisdictional 🤷‍♂️ Here in the UK, it's self preference.
We also do use any handshakes, outside of the lodge & if we did, we would cover it...
I wonder whom gave you this, not wholeheartedly correct information?
