My mom was born in 58’. She had one crossed eye. The Freemasons paid for my mom at 2 yrs old to have surgery. Scottish rite covered my cousin’s life saving surgery as a 6 year old. They are supportive of medical care of children. They have done good to help others

This is by far the best way of explaining Freemasonry that I have seen! Thank you, brother!

I’ll put it this way. I could sit across from a man whose politics differ 180 degrees from my own. And in the lodge I’d only know him as brother. If we let politics infect our lodges, we’d lose that.

Fraternal greetings from Muskogee # 28, Muskogee, OK. I'm a Master Mason and, with the grace of God, soon to be a candidate for the Scottish Rite this weekend. I am grateful to the GAOTU that I joined Masonry, even though it was a bit late in life. The discussion of never mentioning politics in lodge rings especially true in these crazy times, and out lodge is a welcome sanctuary to the lunacy in the world outside, even if only for an hour or so.

As a Mason, 32 SR and Shriner, the basis is that we meet on the level too. That applies across everything. That means, you can be a millionaire and I'm in poverty, but in lodge, we meet as equals. We are brothers and not talking about those things is one more example of meeting on the level

I was a Mason I quit paying my dues I don't understand why it's so hard for people to understand that's not a religion you just can't be an atheist you have to believe in a Supreme Being

I find it fascinating to learn about the different rituals that different kodges follow, I myself am a brother in a military lodge, I treat every meeting as a lesson to exchange knowledge with my brothers .

Spot on, Brother!

I am a Combat Disabled, Medically Retired, Veteran...Combat Aviation; a Baptist Pastor (have been for several years); and the 2023-2024 WM of my lodge.

It floors me how people [think] they know more about what you do...than you do.

I [guarantee] EVERY church those people go to has secrets, that those people will never know...no matter how much they ask.

Mason Washington, Master Mason, from Henderson, NV here. I’m new to the channel and I love it! I’ve been a Mason for 10 years.

The brothers are really giving wonderful feedback on why we don’t discuss politics and religion and I am proud to witness it.

- Meeting on the (same) level
- Respite from the division in the world

These are a couple of my faves.

Freemasons of Texas helped me survive. From 1968 to 1981, I was provided anything I needed to live and go to school. After graduation, I was given thousands of dollars for college. Thank you to all members, past and present and future members of Freemasonry.

Great explanation, very precise and concise, direct to the two main points of the forbidden things we can't do in the lodge.

Kentucky Mason of 6 years here. Also a member of the Shrine and Chapter & Council York Rite bodies. Freemasonry is such a huge part of my life and has been a part of the lives of my family for hundreds of years. The unity that Masonry achieves by avoiding these dividing topics is amazing. I love my brothers and I love the Lodge

2 things guaranteed to create division: Religion & politics

The best way I like to explain this to non-masons is this: in every religion there is some form of the “golden rule” - in masonry there is something very simple. Meet others on the level. Treat others the way you would like to be treated, with respect and comradely as a human being. THAT is what masonry is trying to do, to gather people that want to make the world a better place for each other through the name of deity, whichever religion that takes form. Being free and true to me as a mason means putting aside labels and meeting people on the level, treating others as I would like to be treated myself and I don’t think any religion would have a problem with people thinking that way. Many people are scared of what they do not understand. If you’re curious, ask a mason. There are many of us and we would be happy to share with you what makes this fraternity special.
