2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Review - Chevy Really Nailed this One BIG Time

This is one EV that I would for sure recommend .

Every time I see a New Chevrolet Equinox EV on the road, I always say to my self "man is that ever a good looking vehicle" It really has great style in the design, the lights front and back are fantastic and even remind me a little of Porsche.

The Equinox EV comes with lots of standard features especially in Canada where we start at the 2RS or 2LT. You get a long range battery, 360 camera and hands-free power lift-gate. The 2RS starts at under $50,000 CDN which means that it even qualifies for additional provincial rebates as well as federal rebates.

I test drove the 2025 AWD Equinox EV, AWD Blazer and AWD Prologue. I liked the Equinox best as I prefer the smaller size and it has a slight bump in hp to 300. I prefer the styling too. It’s unfortunate that you can’t get a premium stereo on the Equinox. That screen is huge in person. Probably a good time to buy here in the US before Trump and Elon get rid of the tax credit. I’m in a RAV4 Prime right now and the cargo area looked small to me compared to what I’m used to, but the RAV4 is a shorter car so I guess it’s in the height or they have more room in the second row.

I was looking at the platform stablemate, the Blazer EV, but ended up buying at the other end of the family with a Cadillac Lyriq. However, I think the Equinox beats both the Blazer and Lyriq in value for dollar. If you want to get into the EV family, and dont want to go Tesla, this should at the top of your test drive list. Its a really nice vehicle.

That regen paddle is a great idea. I wish my Mach-E had it. But I'm not complaining

I’m almost 69 years old and have not bought a Chev in years. Even though my first love was a Chev SS Impala, and a 4 WD pickup, and a new 1981 Corvette LTD. Then a Malibu hybrid. But another 50 or so vehicles, I finally bought this Equinox EV LT2. after the Corvette, I am finding this one close to my favorite vehicles of all time. And no, it’s not a “turd” performance wise unless you’re Mario Andretti or some punk kid, it has plenty of acceleration for everyday driving. I m a twin engine high performance IFR rated pilot and I fly supersonic high power rockets to 70 miles vertical AGL, so I’m not some old fuddy duddy geezer that puts around like Mr. Mcgoo. This car rocks. And immensely practical for me and my wife since on my ranch I have installed over 50000 watts of solar power. But even a city dweller who pays up to 20 cents a kw hour (unless you live in that socialist state Commiefornia where its 50 cents a kw hour) your tank of “gas” that delivers up to 319 miles will cost you right at 11 bucks. Thats about 60 cents a gallon in equivalent gasoline.
That said, ev’s are not the answer for everybody. But for a lot of folks, they sure make sense. Especially with the current 7500 fed credit you can use as a down payment, and if you have good credit, 0% interest.

Is that recessed led headlight design a good idea for winter weather? I can imagine it getting packed with snow because led lights don’t generate enough heat to melt anything?

Damn, I'm so happy not to be living in a place where front license plates are required! It messes up that front.

I love your reviews, but I think you need to put a bit more effort on the editing. For instance, you showed us the entertainment screen from a camera behind your left shoulder, away from the screen and in one single shot. This is a constructive criticism and this is my humble opinion only.

Did they really nail it or will it turn out to be like the rest of the unreliable crap they build? Time will tell. Once that new shiny initial build quality wow wears off….

Turd is slow, whether driving or charging and it is way too heavy. Chevy build quality is always suspect.
