100% true, this is the way I grow them every year. One of my beds has over 100 plants in a 3'×6' space(20varieties). With roughly 40 kale plants around the outside.

Thank you Luke! I like how you explained growing your lettuce plants densely, not crowded. The shade factor for the soil makes sense - I’ve tried it and it works. Of course each individuals’ garden micro climate and soil condition can present different challenges such as slugs, your lettuce looks amazing. #apicturespeaksathousandwords

What about aphids and slugs? I figure that would be a giant magnet and with them touching they could easily spread. I like planting herbs in with mine as a natural preventative for pests.
