Hi everyone! This was one of my favorite conducting gigs ever, and I’m thrilled to be able to share it with you. Thanks for your comments!

Amazed by the male vocalist. He's not just singing, he's praying

Look at the conductor’s face at 2:18. The pure joy on his face hearing the music he has written. It’s transcendent.

Mr. Tin, I made a comment a year or two ago reminiscing about how I played this in high school and all, and now that I’ve graduated high school and am on my way to become an orchestral conductor, I just wanted to say thank you for the gifts you bring to this world. You truly are an inspiration to me and many others! God bless 🙏🏼

I CANNOT BELIEVE I FOUND IT. I've had a song in my head since I was 4, I'm 20 now, I think I remember my dad playing it as a kid. I've never been able to find it. THIS WAS IT!

I know for most people here its about the music without understanding any word in Swahili. For me this song its powerful because that's how we say the lord's prayer back home in Kenya. Now combine that with the arrangements, choir and vocals and I feel like I am in heaven!

I was about 17, had no internet and had just bought Civilization IV. I didn't play it on the first day because I would just leave it to loop "Baba Yetu". Even if I had hated the game (which I didn't) I would still say that it was money well spent because it introduced me to this beautiful and magical composition. Through this song I started to explore everything else Christopher Tin has made and it's all beautiful but this song sings to my soul even though I don't speak Swahili. A true masterpiece that transcends language and uplifts the soul.

"Man, the world is in chaos, a lot of things seem hopeless, there's so much division, many people are depressed and..."
*Baba Yetu starts playing
"You know what? I think everything will be alright"

Many of us who love History have been playing Civilization since 1991. But Christopher Tin has condensed the spirit not only of the game but of human history itself. And he has also reminded us that spirituality (baba yetu, our father) can still inspire mankind to great creations. That must be why this music has transcended the game itself, as we can see by the comments here. Congratulations Christopher and thank you for still reading the comments even after so many years

This song showed up one evening during an episode of deep depression. I had been struggling to pray.
I clicked on the song, and listened to it repeatedly. In the morning, I felt that a dark cloud had lifted. Thank You Christopher Tin and all those who participated in singing this and bringing it to us. May you be blessed.

While all of the Civilization themes are great, Baba Yetu is by far the best.

2:10 The blonde clarinetist (?) being emotional about what is arguably the best part of the piece and christopher responding in kind is just magical.

Christopher, if you're still here reading comments, I'd like to thank you for the astonishing art that is your music. I, and evidently many others with me, come back to this rendition quite often. It simply is stunning. Thank you for gifting humanity this, it truly makes the world a better place.
