"Baba Yetu"

Recorded live at the Navy Band's Concerts on the Avenue series at the United States Navy Memorial in 2015.
Featuring Musician 1st Class Bill Edwards.

"Baba Yetu" was composed in 2005 by Chinese American composer Christopher Tin for the video game "Civilization IV." In 2010, the piece was nominated for a Grammy award in the "Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)" category. It went on to be named the winner of that category in Feb. 2011, making it the first piece of music composed for a video game to be nominated and win a Grammy award.
The lyrics are a Swahili translation of "Lord's Prayer."

Man! I just felt the presence of God in my bedroom as I played this prayer. I wish all of them believe in the power of God and His Son Jesus Christ who taught this prayer to his disciple. And Swahili is a sister language in my country of origin! Amazing how they mastered!
