This is the Video Games Live Civilization IV segment written by Christopher Tin. We entitled this piece Civilization IV - Baba Yetu (Duet Version). It features original Baba Yetu singer Ron Ragin (on the right) who performs with us from time to time and was present for the world premiere of this piece at our 2nd Hollywood Bowl performance in 2006. It also showcases the vocal talents of Kendrew Heriveaux (on the left) whom we met performing for us during one of our shows in 2009 and sometimes performs with us as well.

Composer Christopher Tin put out his own CD entitled "Calling All Dawns" which featured the song Baba Yetu as well as other original material. Highly recommended.

13 years later and I’m still coming back for more.

I love how the conductor smiles at both singers at 02:46 and when the crowd cheers after that. good times!

I've been watching this for over a decade and listening to those two gentlemen sing together still brings a tear to my eye.

I remember watching this 12 years ago when I was in college on PBS... I just showed it to my 16 month old daughter and she was so entranced, she wouldn't blink and asked to play it again! This song is POWERFUL and everyone here performed it so well.

I didn't realize there were 2 soloists in this. I went to my first Video games live concert and i have to say this song alone was worth buying the CD. I was driving home and it came on. It brought tears to my eyes. The passion you can hear in the singers voices touches my heart. They are amazing. This piece is amazing. Christopher Tin you are genius. These singers are genius. How the heck do i get to be part of the choir in VGL? I miss being in a choir.

Did you see the smile on the conductor? He was positively beaming. That's what happens when people feel empowered by a group endeavor. It's fascinating seeing people's inherent group behavior.

I love the little move the director does right before the music comes back in. This is by far the best version of this song I can find on the internet. Listen to it. Now.

This....gave me so many chills. Combination of good music, huge live orchestra, and "Our Father" in Swahili.

Still the best version of this song IMO. Heriveaux and Ragin are magical together.

@angelsgrace1 I don't believe VGL has a musical group themselves. Rather, wherever they travel, they select the region's musical group to perform the VGL music.
