The Hanging Tree - a cappella virtual chorus

When you can't sing with your friends in person, a virtual chorus is the next best thing! This haunting song from The Hunger Games is an arrangement that I've had for a few years and wanted to do something with. Sincere thanks to everyone who helped me put this together, and especially to Lindsey Ballard who put a lot of work into both the photography, and the video editing! I hope you enjoy listening as much as we all enjoyed creating it.

Original Composer - James Newton Howard
Arranger - Brian Healy
Video Editing - Lindsey Ballard
Audio Mixing - Brian Healy
Photography - Lindsey Ballard
Lead Solo - Sarah Boecker
Vocalists - Diana Rumrill, Alicia Weber, Andrea Garnett, Erin Healy, Sarah Boecker, Linda Baker, Kristen Brann, Lindsey Ballard, Amanda Dings, Michael Goldman, Joshua Ross, Patrick Bobell, Matthew Scott, Brian Healy, Nathan Caso, Joseph Warmus

Lyrics :

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
They strung up a man
They say who murdered three
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight
In the hanging tree
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where the dead man called out
For his love to flee
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight
In the hanging tree
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where told you to run
So we'd both be free
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight
In the hanging tree
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where necklace of hope
Side by side with me
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight
In the hanging tree
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where told you to run
So we'd both be free
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight
In the hanging tree
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
They strung up a man (They strung up a man)
They say who murdered three (They say who murdered three)
(Strange things did happen here)
(No stranger would it be)
(If we met at midnight)
(In the hanging tree)

Wow, what an amazing arrangement! I loved the collaboration effort that went into this. Maybe because of the COVID-19 quarantines there will be entirely new music groups formed that contribute remotely like this.

I wish I could join this virtual choir! Love the song, love what you did with it vocally and visually. Gives the song another dimension, holds a mirror to the reality of modern times. All over the world, movements of today are organized across a nation via internet, with a couple of leaders arranging the many who are willing to show up for a cause. Beautiful.
