"We break them in so you don't have to." LIES YOU

You have to earn your docs.

This is cheating.

This is legit. Well done, Dr. Martens. I just got a vintage pair of 8 eyelets, and I'm in shoe heaven. So very stylish and beautiful.

The breaking in process for a pair of docs, for me anyway, really gets you attached to the pair of boots, it’s like having kids, it’s pain at the start, but then they grow up. And are easier to work with

For someone with bad foot problems, I chose to buy these as my 4th pair of Docs because my feet were absolutely miserable trying to break in my last pair to the point I don't even want to wear them. And if you don't wear them regularly, you can't break them in. Hmm let's see, choose between being in constant pain or not? I choose the latter. I love Docs and love breaking them in but not to the point of being in agony.

Probably one of the reason most of you feel pain breaking in these boots is because you have soft feet. Not trying to be a jerk, but this type of footwear was originally made for working people. There is a break in period, but it's not so exaggerated as some of you claim if you have the feet for it. Personally broke my old 1490s by wearing them to work. No blisters, just a bit stiff the first day, and broken in by the end of the week.

i break in my boots like buying it, wearing it, getting drunk, when I wake up next day my boots are broken in since I walk a lot at night.

For all the folding and hammering on the upper, the back of the boot still looks damn good.

I'd buy these in a second. One of my pairs is still giving me blisters 10 years later! Thicker leather. I don't care if they're still shinny. If they hurt to wear, then I can't wear them.

I got my first pair of docs last February and FUUUUCK they were a pain. I didn't even wear them as often as I should because they were really putting a lot of pain of the top of my feet. Only until about a month ago did I finally feel them start to get properly broken in and the pain start to diminish greatly. But going through all that just made me love them more, so they'll serve me well for many more years to come.

This takes away the best part of owning a pair. Such memories with my old docs (lasted me 3 years till they were stolen) and some new ones to create with my 1460s.

You EARN the right to wear Dr. Martens by breaking them in yourself!! It's a labour of love! The spongebaths, the wonder balsam massages! This takes away the rite of passage! Stop the insanity!
Hot tip, buy them a size bigger than you normally wear, and wear two pairs of socks! I have tiny, soft, dainty feet and yet I survived my beautiful 1640s, 6 months later and they're comfy af!

I think it's stupid to buy them broken in. I would be worried that they may not last as long. But I can see these being viable for someone with arthritis or something where its hard for them to break them in themselves.

Buying them already broken in is cheating. You're taking away the labor of love that goes with owning a pair of docs.

Basically if you buy a pair of used ones they cost less for the same

Maybe they're just trying to show how enduring Docs can be here.

Obviously they still look damn good after being hammered and twisted and turned and all those shits.

It's really not that serious. If you want to break in your docs' the old fashion way, fine. If you don't, that's fine too.
