It says a lot about Din that, despite how useful the spear was, he gives it up as soon as he hears how dangerous it could be against other Mandalorians.

That spear is the reason he defeated the dark trooper who managed to get through the doors. His blaster, his flamethrower, even his whistling birds did nothing. Not everyone can have a saber, someone else could use that spear.

"It is a threat to Mandalorians".

"Armorer, fear is the path to the Dark Side."

I’m retrospect after Din gave the dark-saber to Bo. I really wish that he kept the spear. It really fits his character better if he didn’t want the weight of leading the Mandalorians.

He also doesn’t have an iconic weapon anymore…. he lost his rifle, the spear, and now the dark saber. It really sucks and I hope they give him something cool.

I totally agree that the Beskar Spear is overpowered but if wasn't for the spear he would've been killed by Moff Gideon or the Dark Troopers and I would've liked to see him keep it while train with the spear to master that combat style and maybe kill/defend against an Jedi or Sith if he ever meet, of course beside Luke, Ahsoka Tano and Grogo.

*Flies to to Tatooine.

Din: "Yo Fett, want this cool spear?"
Fett: "Oh thanks."

I love how the package containing the chainmail looks exactly like Grogu's head...

"Mandalorian steel is meant for armor, not weapons." Clearly she knows nothing of the old weapons of her own culture. They had swords made of beskar, named beskads, and many other weapons made of the metal.

I would have stuck with the spear honestly, the darksaber has been shown to be almost useless most of the time against many of the enemies he's faced, while it may be more powerful in a standard lightsaber it has struggled against multiple enemies in the series. It can't cut through force fields, it puts a Target on his back due to it being a badge of the next Mandalorian King, it's a struggle to even utilize properly, and the only ones he's actually managed to kill with it were those gangsters in the beginning of the second season in which he wounded himself due to the difficulty of the blade. They're not really doing a good job selling how powerful or important the dark saber is supposed to be, the beskar spear is cable piercing force fields and other metals and like many others in the comments have said she won't allow him to have the spear but she made micro beskar missiles for his wrist launcher.

It seems to me that the Armorer is in a sense laying out tenets & guidelines that may give raise to a proper leader and Quality members within the ranks of the Mandalorians.

If it can beat the toughest armour it was made correctly, an infamous energy weapon people can barely use over a long reach and unbreakable weapon beats near indestructible armour.

I'd choose the spear every time over the dark saber.

It's like they forget or don't understand that Tarre Vizsla was a Jedi himself, the weapon that they fight over was the weapon of a Jedi Knight who also happened to be a Mandalorian

"Mandalorian steel is meant for armor, not weapons." Says the woman who bludgeons her enemies to death with a Beskar hammer and tongs...

Funny how Mandalorians and Jedi used to be enemies, but now have a lot more in common; namely, they're both almost extinct thanks to the Empire and the rest of the galaxy believes them to be gone, if they ever existed at all.

And when you think about it, the Jedi and the Mandalorians aren't all that different. Both make use of unique equipment that is heavily associated with them (lightsabers for Jedi, beskar armour for Mandalorians); both hold themselves to codes of conduct that they sometimes take to the extreme (no attachments for Jedi, love for battle for Mandalorians); both do not discriminate on the basis of race, gender or sexuality in recruitment, taking all as long as they meet the requirements. The only real difference is the issue of attachment and approach to combat; Jedi prefer peace, do not consider themselves warriors and will only fight if they have to, whilst Mandalorians glory in war, pride themselves on being warriors and don't require much incentive to fight.

Mando is capable of greater kindness than the Jedi. The Jedi forbid attachments but Mando sees Grogu as his family. It was cruel of them not to allow a symbol of that family; the clan of two.
