Prometheus - How to setup AlertManager in Prometheus

1. What is the alert manager?
2. Create Alert Rules.
3. Install the alert manager.
4. Configure SMTP setting to send alert notification.
5. Generate alerts to test alert manager in Prometheus.

Many thanks for your video, its quite helpful. It will be nice to include that the configuration of alertmanager.yml file will not work using your personal gmail password. One has to generate app password (16 character code) which has to be used, otherwise alertmanager will not fire any alert.

Hi that's a great video.
Can you help me to find a solution to absent metrics.. It seems that we keep receiving false alerts on absent metrics. Is there a way where we can stop this false alerts.
1) Is there any other alternative function instead of absent function which does the same work.
2) silencing an alert stops only the absent metric alert or stops entire genuine occurring alert as well..
3) what happens if we reboot the alert manager will the false/in-active alert dissaper?

Good aletmanager content, how can one incorporate auth_password to be encoded/encrypted form in alert.yml in the case of on-prem not using gmail email but for use within an organization SMTP email account?

can you also add on what different settings to be done while setting it up on mac. Cause I tried the same on mac and its not working . I set up the same in alertmanager.yml and still it does not show alerts in prometheus I guess I am not able to integrate alertmanager and prometheus
