You got the rubber gasket upside down. Read the ends of the gasket and it tells you which side is up. Otherwise, looks good.

This is a a job well done. You are a professional. I only recommend the following to you two things. 1) It is best to use a hardwood pallet to introduce the gasket. The screwdriver can cut the gasket and ruin the job. 2) I prefer to use liquid soap before introducing the gasket. It is the way in which I assume that the gasket has entered in all necessary. Thank you so much for a very professional video.

I believe the beveled piece of the rubber seal faces up, if you look at the inside of the nut it’s also beveled. The two beveled connection is what seals the rubber to PVC pipe. Also plumbers grease around rubber works well. I also dropped the wrench in the pipe. Lucky I had a magnet handy.

Stick a sock in the drain so nothing falls in. But very helpful

the tightening piece always drops into the pipe. I stuff one of my socks into the pipe and pull it out after and a little soapy water on the rubber gasket makes it slip.

Beveled edge UP on the rubber pipe gasket. It is even clearly marked so on the beveled edge itself.

Beveled side of (rubber slip gasket) goes up!!! Not down buddy...and always electrical tape that damn keyed wrench on to the end of a screw driver (so not to lose it down the drain) also the big screwdriver you use with that keyway make sure its squared shaft so you can use a crescent wrench to turn it when it gets too hard to do by hand...old-school plumber!!! Some say you have to cement riser first. They correct if it is a fibreglass pan. I have 45-kilogram marble pan, so you just showed me how to glue it to p-trap. Thanks.

The beveled side of the gasket goes up.

Is rubber sealing ring supposed to be proud, even or below the drain riser after it tightened? I just installed one and mine is proud by 1/8 inch. Should I lengthen my riser or is it a nine issue given the width of the rubber ring and compression?

This is wrong on many points: 1. First KNOW exactly proper height of drain pipe in relationship to pan that you are using (No two manufacturers are generally the same). 2. Install drain pipe (dry fit) and then set pan on and put gasket ring on (dawn dishwashing liquid can be used as lubricant for rubber gasket. 3. Now that you KNOW all is correct (if it isn't adjust drain pipe length) pull ring out and pan off and now glue drain pipe (let set). 4. Set pan and put rubber gasket on with dishwashing liquid again. As a final point DO NOT use a screwdriver and poke the rubber gasket unless of course you are into leaks and damage of things down the road and as a final last point put the gasket on correctly as this fellow put it on upside down. The gasket is labeled. Now that you know all this go to another video and find how to do it correctly.

You put the rubber gasket wrong. The bevel side should be up

I have the same type of drain and i really hate it. Thanks for the video though.

As the other guy said, the bevel side goes up. I'm also curious why you glued the riser pipe in afterwards? I've always done the opposite and slid the shower base over the glued riser. A tip for seating the rubber donut: I'll place the but end of a hammer inside the pipe and lever it "true", the donut will fall almost freely if the pipe is true.

As I'm installing this drain I'm wondering if this rubber seal alone will do or can I use plummers putty instead. If not, how tight do I tighten the rubber seal to be leak proof?

Note Pay no attention to malicious people. You are doing well. Up there.

Use 100 percent silicone on the rubber it will slide in easy, Then tighten down.
