Hand tighten? That’s going to leak. Why would you not give that at least another half turn with a wrench???

I could be wrong but I believe it is 1/2”-3/4 below flush not 1”

Great video but I want to know why the beveled side goes up?
In my mind, the bevel goes down to make a better seal between the drain flang and the drain pipe. Even more so when there is a white ring when a metal tool to tighten down and compress the rubber gasket.

Oatey uses a pipe wrench on the bottom of the drain nut. Is that necessary you think?

It shows the drain a tiny bit elevated on the shower pan, this will cause water to pool around the drain, is this expected?

I've watched a dozen installation videos for these "no caulk" drains, and every single one involves utilizing some sort of additional sealant. So much for being "no caulk"

Why not cut the pipe flush with the floor before installing shower pan? Wouldn’t it eliminate the use of the inside cut tool?
