Deadheading is a simple pruning technique to help cleanup your roses after a flush of blooms - removing those spent flowers also encourages the shrub to return to flowering sooner. In this video, I'll show you how to deadhead individual blooms as well as cluster-flowering roses.

Even though that is work keeping up with trimming the roses, it seems as if it might be a calming activity! They are very beautiful roses and I enjoyed your tutorial! Thank you!

Lovely roses, and your explanations were very good! I watch a lot of gardeners, and I had forgotten about going back the five leaves. I think I will remember now, and you did not overload us with information, just a few important tips on how to get lovely blooms and keep the plant healthy. Well Done!

I have a backyard of English roses here in Virginia and you are QUITE good at tutorials!!! I have never had anyone to teach me, so I appreciate the lesson in deadheading. I would also love to hear about what to plant around my roses that will make it look more like a gorgeous English garden, not just roses. Thank you!!!

You did a brilliant job of explaining! Brought back beautiful memories, my grandfather taught me this as a child and I’d forgotten until you mentioned the 5 leaf. Goodness he had the most magnificent roses. Thank you for a wonderful video 🌹

I was surprised to see and know that I'm dead heading my climbing rose correctly. I was told to not cut it back completely in the fall, but I do. to about 1.5 to 2 feet in height as I seem to get a lot of blooms come spring and summer and am able to cut out any dead, woody branches. It always comes back beautiful and anywhere from 3 to 4 feet in height. Do you agree or disagree with my method? Thank you as this was extremely helpful and you explained it perfectly! ♥
