Deadheading a rose is the removal of finished blooms in order to encourage further blooms and improve the appearance and shape of the rose. Watch as David Austin Roses explain how to deadhead your roses at home.

There are two stages to deadheading. The first is mainly aesthetic, removing the brown finished blooms so you can enjoy the remaining flowers without interruption. The second stage encourages new blooms and helps to maintain a compact shape.

I’m no expert. I appreciated this. I just walk by, snap it off and that’s my skill level. I have mainly Lillie’s and roses and too many. It hurts emotionally to chuck when the garden overflows. I know how blest I am. Planted 1000 Lilly seeds & and waiting excitedly for spring. My roses are mainly from cuttings. I have nooo idea why I am so lucky. Watching you is peaceful. You watching me would lead you to a coronary event.

Hi i ordered a david austine rose creeper and it came in a newspaper wrapping in red soil which had hardened and i had to immediately repot in a regular pot. I had to dip its ball in water so that the roots came out from the bottom area of the rootball.
had to give it an anti fungus spray as leaves were mostly brown spotted. Now many leaves have become crisp the next day and i have had to snip them.
I have kept it in shade since yesterday.
Pls advise if it will survive and advise how to care for it.
Will all leaves become crispy and fall down ?

Great demo - and what a lovely environment to spend a working day! I saw somewhere that when deadheading a cluster, go back as far as the 1st joint that has 5 leaves on it. Is that correct, or doesn't it matter?

Hello, why do we leave the rose hips on there? What are they used for? Thank you.

How long does it take for repeating roses to bloom again after deadheading?

Must we apply any fungicide at the cut end. Most of the time for me it dies back. I don't know how to stop the die back.
