Top 10 Ways To Cultivate A Biophilic Style | Interior Design

You may have heard the term biophilia a lot over the last few years. It’s been the underlying trend behind popular styles like warm minimalism, organic modern and climate specific styles like desert and coastal modern. It’s a concept that has at its roots in the love of nature and all that is alive. But nature in design and decor is nothing new and even before the term biophilia was coined in the 1970’s, almost all eras incorporated depictions of nature in artwork, textiles and architectural features. Some beautiful examples are the sinuous curves of Art Nouveau, the woodland inspired motifs of the Craftsman era and the wondrous works of architects like Frank Lloyd Wright who believed in creating harmony between people and nature. So, no matter whether you lean toward a modern or more traditional aesthetic, you can bring nature into your spaces directly and indirectly to take advantage of its calming effects.
