Only thing I would add is don't try to hit a 9 O'clock swing a specific distance. Choke up and make a comfortable half swing with your arm parallel to the ground and still be a little aggressive and stable through the ball. Then see how far it goes. I use a shag bag and hit 30 or 40 balls with the same swing, then pace it off to where the balls were landing so you have a solid swing and carry distance in your mind. My yardage is 65 yards. 9 O'clock 60 wedge. 54 degree is a little over 80. 48 degree is 105. All the same swing with 3 clubs. Then make your back swing slightly bigger or shorter to take a little off or add a bit. Then work on 730 and 1030 swings to make 3 swings and 9 yardages with 3 different clubs. Don't force the yardages. Your swing will determine the distances and you'll be super confident hitting it the right yardage because you've done it so many times. I lay up to 65 when I can!

Nice explanation of the pitch shot. I try to practice this as much as I can. Sometimes I get good results and other times I shank it. It’s a work in progress. Thanks for the video.

Thanks Paul. I used my 54 degree SW in this video as I find that the extra bounce (12) helps me to shallow out the divot and gain extra control. But when the distance needs it I'd have no problem doing the same with my PW & LW. So we actually end up with 3 x 3, 3 wedges giving 3 landing distances per club, 9 distances total. Write these average distances out on a hard copy and check them regularly, thanks, Mark.

Don't know if you are still monitoring remarks, but I hope you are. Your suggestions have made a tremendous positive result in my game. Many, many times I have ended up 30-50 yards from the green and chunked my pitch. Finally I've realized my mistake and you've helped me so much. Can't wait to get on the course and give it a go. Thanks so much for your suggestions.

Wow, phenomenal tip with the hands of the clock…gives me some reason “measuring sticks” for how to swing! Thanks Mark!

That course looks very nice. I don’t usually associate Ireland with trees and meadows, but it looks beautiful there.

Great points, Never thought about the back edge of the club actually hitting the ground before the front of the club. Great video.

Great stuff Mark, low handicap player who has started dragging the handle. Results have been pretty alarming to say the least! This cleared it up immediately!

I have been using this shot for the past 2 weeks and have found it very effective. Thanks for sharing it on youtube.
I used it with a 45 yard pitch shot to a hard and very fast green that was sloping away from me and the ball just bounced twice and stopped very close to the hole where I saved par. It also impressed my playing partners!

This technique works! You made it so simple to understand and apply! Finally, a plan of approach that I can apply :)

So to sum this guy's teaching method.. for a longer shot, use a longer swing, and for a shorter shot, use a shorter swing. How do you do it man, truly a teaching fenom.

Good video. Helped me a lot. I always thought it was good to take divots, but that makes it a great deal harder to be consistent. Thanks.
