If you have thin gums or gum recession, you have to be extra careful when brushing your teeth. On the other hand if you have swollen or excess gum tissue, then you should brush your teeth more aggressively to bring down the swollen gums.

A lot of people aren’t appreciating what he said at the end: brushing your teeth is one of those things where you should strictly follow the rules of. More than twice a day or more than -two- four minutes a day is actually worse than just twice a day or more than two minutes, and brushing hard is worse than brushing soft/medium strength.

I dont know if you will see this doctor but I wanted to thank you for this. I came from a home where i was neglected and abused, and i had no idea how to brush my teeth as i had never in the first 18 yrs of my life done so, and my mother would refuse to buy me a toothbrush or anything else.

When i finally got health insurance at 19 and went to a dentist i asked her if she could show me how i was supposed to brush and she got very angry at me and was very rude saying why should she bother because i clearly made no attempt to take care of myself, and called me disgusting. Then told me i was degrading her by asking her to brush my teeth (which i didnt, i just asked her to show me in anyway how to do it right as i really had no idea), and that i wasnt welcome there anymore. She had me escorted out by the staff. I was already embarrassed about my teeth and she utterly humiliated me and shamed me. I didnt go to any dentist after that for 12 years.

I wish i had had something like this back then. And just wanted to thank you for doing this video, it will definitely help others who are in the same situation i was and you are so kind about it. So thank you❤

As someone who had inflamed gums for a long while, I recommend getting an electric toothbrush. For me, it helped reduce my tendency to brush too aggressively, and my gums are a lot less inflamed now

Yes! A dentist told me I had to use the 2nd technique when I was a young teenager and I still do it now. I'm glad I've been told this back then.

My dentist taught me to brush the second way, apparently you damage your gums less this way

This was exactly my issue. Even after i was advised to brush lightly with a soft brush it continued. I ended up getting a mechanical brush which is a good alternative as long as you keep flossing
