Not every data analyst needs a project portfolio to share with potential employers. Today I’m sharing 3 Reasons you DON’T need a data analyst project portfolio to demonstrate your skills.

I fully expect that not everyone is going to agree with my take on analytics project portfolios. After all, even I’ve said before that connecting your training to business problems is the key skill many new analysts lack. And I’ve given tips on the types of projects that get jobs.

Let’s be clear - I’m not saying that you don’t need to do projects that show you implementing the skills you’ve learned. The part that you may not need at all though, is a digital portfolio of work.

Does all of this mean you should skip the data analyst projects? Of course not! But be mindful of the projects that you pick. Show business connections. Be able to articulate how your work ties into actual business problems or questions you might encounter.

This is probably the most real-world take on data analyst portfolios I’ve watched on YouTube. So far no interviewers asked me about portfolios in entry level data analyst interviews

Millionaires are rich for a reason - they're usually pretty clever and resourceful people.
Most of the world's rich people are already invested in stock IMO. Stocks market won't change anything - the same people who are rich now will be the people who are rich ten years from now.

But it is still a good idea to have one - to show what you have done previously to your potential employer

I want to be a business analyst but I can only find a data analyst internship. Would hiring managers care that it’s data only? Or if you applied for BA roles would you qualify as a data analyst?

Mmmm, strongly disagree! A portfolio definitely shows your tech skills, insights. I am trying to understand your points, but this doesn't convince me. Though, you are right about "one should focus on solving the business query"
