Some people see Thomas Selleck ‘fit’ ONLY for the role of Magnum P.U (sorry, I mean P.I) or when he stars in Blue Bloods. I think IKE to be one of the most defining roles of his life, no more than being just ‘a hunk’ to be infatuated with.

In movie Patton, He is military governor in Bavaria and in a press conference says Germans joined the Nazi Party like Americans become Democrats and Republicans. Also, same move Bradley gets command for invasion and has similar talk. He says he would have relieved Patton in Sicily.
Problem anytime you become superior in rank to someone who was over you or your equal. MacArthur got fired by Truman when he started talking about foreign policy during Korean War.
They had a meeting in Midway I believe and Mcarthur was late.
Truman told him you can keep Harry Truman waiting but not Your Commander-in-Chief. I think Truman was one of our best presidents. Atomic Bomb, NATO, United Nations, Berlin Airlift, Containment, , Berlin Airlift (His advisers said pull out.)Korea was a mess, never believed Chinese would enter.
In WW1 he was sent to France as a Captain. No one had lasted more than 90 days commanding a unit. When told this he said "Boys, you got it wrong, I dont have to get along with you; You have to get along with me."

Tom was an awesome choice for playing Ike, I was enjoying his chewing out Patton for "slapping a shell shocked soldier as a malingerer is never, NEVER Permissible, do you understand me sir"?? Fantastic scene where the true power of Ike over even Patton, who in his own right, carried a very big stick of his own. Another scene where a 2 star general who run his big mouth drunk on wine that "we will be drinking the finest French stuff soon enough" in a public restaurant. A young officer saw and heard this, and he was commanding troops dropping into France and said mamy men would be dying and this big mouth could ve made the losses much worse. Ike didn't even consider keeping the 2 star in the theater. He really pissed Ike off by saying "Im part of the inner circle"... You're going home and the 2 star general was gonna lose his stars and told Beatle to"try to keep him a colonel. His drunken stupidity cost him 2 or 3 demotions to keep him a colonel.

Lets talk some nonfiction. Patton summoning ike from the business at hand in the back of his packard. To tell him since him and omar bradley were fools. With their shoulder. Hitler had an army. He would counter attack. Probably through the ardennes and soon. His black driver ike assigned him until very very very late in the war wouldve drove him there. And patton was told. And i quote. "Now youre the jumpy one. Weve won. Go back to bed george." Then the battle of the bulge happened. And george patton babysitted it to not working.
