Arguably my favorite Monty scene was at a different point in the movie.

Steiger: "The Americans have taken Palermo!"
Jodl: "Damn!"

Meanwhile...

British officer: "Sir! Patton's taken Palermo!"
Monty: "DAMN!"

I like how towards the end the bands start competing for anthem supremacy

At 1:40 historians forgot to mention that when Patton and Montgomery meet at Messina in 1943, the shook hands instead, raised their thumbs and said: 1, 2, 3, 4 I declare a Band War.... and thus it began :P

01:28 yeah I can sense the animosity there. They're just being nice out in the eyes of the public but I could tell they indeed disliked each other (especially the exchange of remarks).

My Grandfather fought in Europe, N.Afrika and the Middle East. 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He refused to let his sons go to Vietnam. He figured that our family shed and lost enough blood already. WW1 had destroyed my Great Grandfather, and some great uncles. There is only so much shelling that a man could take. G.Grandfather was 2nd Cav. D Troop. He was found, barely clothed, wandering out in the winter. Complete amnesia. They put his picture and story into the papers. My great grandmother saw and claimed him. He died from exposure to the elements. But, at least he had his wife by his side. Though he didn't know it. I can't really imagine the Hell war put him through. And, I fought in the 1st Gulf War, Bosnia and wrapped up my service with a Colombian drug interdiction. Though, that was nothing compared to what they went through.

Say what you will regarding historical accuracy vis a vi events, vehicles and the like. This is still an excellent movie.

It’s common knowledge that the movie overplayed the degree of competition between Montgomery and a Patton. History has already recorded that they did in fact cooperate with one another for the war effort. Montgomery went on to say in his bio that he respected Patton for his abilities and his strengths. I laugh at the idiots who comment on this video because all of the opinions are garnered from watching a Hollywood movie.

Now that is the classy way to throw some serious shade. Patton was a master at it. Lol

I love how Monty looks so cocky and wonders why they quit playing “Scotland the Brave” only to find Patton waiting for him.

They had conquered North Africa together but at what cost the battle of the bands had begun.

One of the best scenes in cinematic history…skeptical that it is historically accurate but who cares….great, great entertainment. Inspires admiration for both allies and huge pride in America.

1:29 Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery: don't smirk Patton I shan't kiss you

General George S. Patton: pity because I shaved extra close this morning in preparation of getting smacked by you

The vehicles used in this film always ruin the immersion.
