With such a processor, I would first update the video card, for example 3060, in most cases the processor will load it at 100%

Someone I know used a 6800XT with a 2600x for awhile before upgrading to the 5900X.

It depends on what Power Supply the guy has. the base 1650 spec doesnt even need a 6 pin so he might have a terrible PSU with just a 6 pin. It would limit GPU upgrades to say the least.

I like the 5600 but the 6700xt is getting harder and harder to come across and the 7600 isn't the best price to performance. I think the best option would be something like a used 3070

Had a 2600 and a 1660 ti. I would say get a 5700x first before anything else. Way better performance then you can upgrade to any gpu up to 4060 ti. Youll be good for the next 4-5 years. Upgrade your psu if its anything lower than 600 watts.

If he bought a pc with a gtx 1650 and a ryzen 5 2600 he obviously doesnt have a higher budget to get better specs so why tf are you guys recommending gpu's worth like 300. Use some inference skills pls.

The term „bottleneck“ is misused in this context. Sure a r5 2600x paired with let’s say a 4070 is not balanced but if you swap out the 4070 with a 4090 you’d still see a performance boost. Also you can’t blindly upgrade any AM4 cpu. Make sure your chipset / Maknboard is compatible and upgrade your bios BEFORE swapping the cpu. Most A320MBs won’t work with a 5800 eG.
