Short and most useful answer: Set your expectations to a value (example: 1080p 165hz or 1440p 100hz), then seek for a combo that suits it. Rule of thumb: Do not change anything if its not neccessary

Day 4 asking:
How do I avoid a scam when buying used hardware?
(In the replies in my comments on previous videos I got some valuable information so thank you, but I think a video from Zach would spread more the information and help many other people)
What should I do when I buy a used pc/used pc components (same for new components) to make sure that all the components are working properly and they aren’t somewhat faulty or malfuncioning or also broken?
Can you please walk us through the steps that you do to ensure that the components work as normal?
Sorry for the grammar, I’m not from an english speaking country

Tbh upgrading to a 5700x3d would probably be night and day. Also leaves headroom to get a more powerful gpu down the line. No new motherboard needed. AM4 prices are pretty good now but waiting a few week may save an additional 10 to 20 bucks.

Crazy how an RTX 4070 Super is considered to be a "1440p card". I'm on an RTX 3070 and I can run most games at 4K comfortably.

I wouldn’t do incremental upgrades.
Entry level Threadripper is a good start.

yeah but consider this: you can get the same graphics for a fraction of the cost if you don't buy Nvidia.

Question for either Zach or someone in the comments. I have a 5950x build with a 3080 founders. Planning on doing my first build and I wanted advice/suggestions on if I should swap out anything.

Going with 7800x3d and a 4090 build. I'm trying to dip my toes into content creating as well as have this rig be future proof for around the next five years or so. Would these be a good building block to work from or a bit overkill or should I wait to see what AMD and Nvidia are coming out with next?

The hell is this nonsense? Dude was just asking what is a good cpu for his 4060. Not “should I buy a 4070 and a 7800x3d?”

I have a 5700x3d and a 7900xt with zero bottlenecking. No need to jump platforms. I upgraded from a 3600/5700xt.

Oh wow and I was about to buy 7600x as my first AM5 build cpu next month too glad I watched this before. Crazy I didn't know a new gen Ryzen CPUs gonna drop 😭

I went with a 5700X3D and 4060 combo which can do some 1440 games and run anything at 1080 on high or ultra settings. Decided to stay AM4 because I didn't want to buy a new set of DDR5 lol

That is the exact same gpu and cpu combo that I built

My advice is to wait.
Not for a bit but for a while.
And upgrade your AM4 to AM5 and your 4060 to a 7800XT. Ryzen 5 7600X is enough for that GPU at 1440p High. But like he said, wait for the 9000 series so that the 7000 series drops in price.

Obviously you need a motherboard upgrade with that. Go for a inexpensive B650. ASrock and Gigabyte has some good value for money B650 motherboards.

Obviously then you'll need to move to DDR5 with 32 gigs of Ram.

So In reality, your next Big upgrade will cost you a lot. So it's better that you sell your current PC and build all over again.

Or you could stay in your current AM4 platform and go with Ryzen 7 5800X3D with a 1440p GPU. This should be your best choice.
