If changing the game to full screen windowed mode doesn't help, here's how to fix CS:GO screen tearing.

Step 1

Check monitor refresh rate: right click desktop, screen resolution, advanced, monitor.

Step 2

Open console in game with tilda key: `

Step 3

Lock fps with this command: fps_max xx -replace XX with desired numbers-

60 - 120hz: 30, 60, 120, 480, etc.

75hz: 37, 75, 150, 300, etc.

144hz 77, 144, 288, 576, etc.

Higher framerates require better system specs.

Let me know in the comments if this helped you out.

I just bought a brand new laptop, 970 gtx, 16 gig ram, 2.6 ghz core speed, intel i7 newest generation, ssd +hdd but i get screen tearing anyways.. My refresh rate is at 60 hz.

Vsync is now just forced on due to the inbuilt "Aero" of Windows 10 which applies Vsync to windows. This causes lag.

Hi,
Thx for vidéo game and the trick, it works on my laptop but the problem is that the game is not fluid and jerky :-/

I have laptop asus rog g751jl with :

- windows10 64 bit
- i7 4720HQ 2.6/3.6 GHz
- GTX965M 2GB
-16 GB RAM
- screen 60Hz

I try a lot of things, but there is always a problem :(

1) V-sync + tripple buffer (in game setting) = big lag (délai of mouse) (unplayable game)

2) V-sync + tripple buffer (pannel nvidia only) = big lag (délai of mouse) (unplayable game)

3) V-sync + tripple buffer (pannel nvidia only) + fps_max 59 and 60 = lag but really very light (very good result playable)

4) V-sync (fast setting) + tripple buffer (pannel nvidia only) = not lag but game the game is jerky (the best result playable)

5) (Your setting) full screen windowed + V-sync disabled + fps_max 60 = not lag but game the game is jerky (better with fps_max 120, (very less jerk)) (best result too)

I really do not know how I could have a smooth play without image tearing :(

Slight issue that might occur; windowed, being fullscreen or not causes small input lag

Oh my god thank you! My screen was starting so much that I couldn't even see the apply button (I didn't even know it existed). But now I fixed it.

this still didn't work. any suggestions? I'd still rather play with tearing than v-sync.
