In this video, Canoe Builder and Outdoorsman Jason Eke applies the fibreglass and epoxy to the kayak deck of the Shearwater 17 hybrid Stitch and Glue Cedar Strip Kayak from Chesapeake Light Craft.

For more information on this kayak, visit:

If you're not familiar with the boat, its a hybrid due to its stitch and glue bottom hull and cedar strip deck.

This is the fourteenth video in a series.

I hope you like this video, the kayak is finally showing her colours. If you'd like more information about the epoxy used in this series you can visit the MAS website. I've added a link to their FAQ page in the description.

Hi Jason, Great series of video's. I am in the process of building a Wood Duck Double Hybrid at my home in Bermuda. I was hoping to see you add the deck formers to the hull as that is the stage I am currently at, but it does not seem to be covered in your videos? It must happen between #7 and #8. Do you have it available to post?

Jason, Do Not use a tack cloth before epoxy. Tack cloths are formulated for oil-base paint. The waxes on the cloth can contaminate the wood and is incompatible with epoxy. You may get away with it if you have a really light touch on the wood, but it can cause serious issues in some cases.
