I rolled onto this video slightly by accident but I'm glad i did.

I'm working on making custom recipes for a modpack and this knowledge on the model data stuff was really helpful as one of the recipe things thats baffled me for the longest time I now finally understand how it works

For items with abilities i reccommend scoreboards and overriding carrot on a stick

I have this as a datapack and the custom model does not even load in-game, because when i wrote it to make every diamond look like an emerald (just by writing it in the model, not in the "predicate"), they still looked like diamonds.

What about making it have a custom model with a custom name? like if i rename a netherite axe to "netherite scythe", how would you make it have the netherite scythe texture as a .json model?
