I've been spending some time trying to get an otherwise "unbeatable" minecraft world to have crafting recipes for items necessary for progression, but have come across some problems trying to get it to work, since I've never tried anything like it. However, I've repeatedly come across your videos, which are very clear and even explain how they work down to the code (which, personally, I like, since I'd like to know what I'm doing). Thank you so much, I was trying to figure this out myself, but I couldn't figure it out as there isn't a specific "crafted_item" advancement (which there should be btw, or at least nbt tags in recipe results). This has really helped me make my data packs more lag efficient, thanks!

This is really useful! Sadly for some reason its not fully working for me correctly. It allows me to use the crafting recipe, and even the function and the advancement. However, the advancement seemingly won't be given to me when I actually craft the recipe, causing it not to work. I shall problem solve over time though

For those currently trying to do this on 1.18 {I'm specifically on 1.18.2}

If you want to give the item directly from crafting and not give the knowledge book: If it's a vanilla item, you can just replace the knowledge_book in the crafting recipe json with the item you want and delete the functions and advancements folders entirely. At least that's what I did and it works. Not saying it's "right" though.

To get it to work in 1.18, you need to change the pack_format number in pack.mcmeta with 8 instead of 1. This number changes based on versions.

Now if someone can tell me how to do multiple recipes, I'd appreciate it as I haven't figured that one out yet.
