2020 Update: Please note that this is designed for Minecraft version 1.14.4 with Optifine. I have no idea how to make this work in newer versions and I don't mod Minecraft anymore

If you need help with Minecraft modding please seek help from the Optifine or Blockbench discord channels. I no longer create this type of content:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to the first in my series "Blockbench of Noobs" videos where I share with you my knowledge on creating custom content for the Java version of Minecraft. In this episode you will learn everything there is to know about starting from scratch and finishing with a working Minecraft asset.

This tutorial is aimed at users with no previous knowledge of these tools or methods and is the ideal starting point for anyone who is interested in creating custom content for Minecraft

The method used in this video requires the use of Opitifine and CIT (Custom Items) and renaming a vanilla minecraft item to your specified item name which then changes the model.

This tutorial covers:
◆Blockbench basic UI instructions and hotkeys
◆Basic model making
◆Basic texturing
◆Details on how to create your own resource pack
◆Details on how to get your model working in Minecraft

You are my hero for showing vertex snap. I've been looking for a feature like that forever and could never find it. Thank you.

For all those wondering why textures don't work:
Your Model will only have textures if you use the extracted vanilla jar like him.
So the folder structure must be the same vanillar jar/assets/ and so on.
As you can see in the json file, everything is being chosen from block/block_name , which is part of the normal path of minecraft blocks.
He literally also said that at minute 31-ish

Of course there is another way to get textures, that is by adding them to the your resource pack. (There are enough tutorials on that on youtube, so just search for it)

Thanks a lot for the help. I'm making a texture pack that changes a lot of the music and one of the music discs is from the game fez, so I'm changing it so the music disc is the little hat from fez. Pretty fun

It’s not totally limited to cubes if you use the plugins you can put on you can add plugins that help make textures look better and use circles not made of cubes

First of all, this was a great Video. Thanks a lot for your afford to explain it. One thing comes into my mind: is it possible, for example a sword, to give it a custom model according to an enchanting? Do you know, if this is possible? I was thinking about to change a Pickaxe with Silk Touch, so you can clearly see, this is a silky one. I broke my enderchest to often with the Fortune Pick ^^

Today’s the first time I have ever heard of blockbench, and I’m already very inspired to do something, despite having not played minecraft in at least two years
