“You serve the senate!”
“No. We serve the people of this Republic.”

Dooku was one of the few Jedi of his time who understood that there is a significant difference between a government and the people it governs.

Count Dooku is the embodiment of the quote - 'the path to hell is paved with good intentions'.

Tales of the Jedi has completely changed our perspectives on Dooku forever. I personally will never look at him the same way I saw him in AotC ever again. Turns out, he was very much like Anakin. Both of them really disliked the Jedi Council's involvement into politics, to the point where they've lost faith in the Order and ultimately succumbed to the Dark Side.

This character went from a shallow background villain to one of the deepest, most well thought out characters/villains in the entire saga.

I have never felt bad for Dooku’s death before this. That last scene hits hard.

Count Dooku is one of the most complex characters in Star Wars. He only wanted to fix the corruption of the Republic and help the citizens but eventually he fell to the dark side, betraying all the values he once held. Someday we should really get a Star Wars TV show or something depicting the point of view from the true believers of the separatists cause. Great Edit!

Once Dooku said: "I used to bring Qui-Gon here, as a boy." & "Qui-Gon Jinn is one with the Force."
My heart sank! He truly loved and cared about his Padawan so much. And it was the final nail in the coffin for him to fully join the Dark Side.
Kudos to Corey Burton!👏🏻

Count dooku is such an underrated character. I’m so glad we got to see more of his perspective on what happened to him. His story is so interesting. Great job

It's actually heartbreaking watching Dooku die now. He was a good man, a good Jedi, and was shaped by the faults of the Republic he fought for. And then after all he went thru and all sacrificed for Palpatine, he was discarded.

I like how we learn about Dooku and then in the Bad Batch we see how far he truly fell. His war chest and all.

One thing I noticed, and loved, about the Tales of the Jedi Dooku is that when he calls palpatine "master" for the first time it's such a mix of regret, disgust, and self-loathing but also an acknowledgement that this was his choice and he had to see it to the end.

Such a good sad tribute to the character. How good he was and how much he lost himself to the point of becoming exactly like those corrupted senators he hated so much.
Also, to everyone who was fascinated by this more in depth look at Dooku in Tales Of The Jedi please consider listening to the Dooku: Jedi Lost audiodrama and read the Yoda: Dark Rendezvous novel. You'll like him even more. Now, I'd like to add Dooku's death as it was narrated by Matthew Stover in the Revenge Of The Sith novel to perhaps add more gravitas to what's already a good tribute to the character:

"As he looks up into the eyes of Anakin Skywalker for the final time, Count Dooku knows that he has been deceived not just today, but for many, many years. That he has never been the true apprentice. That he has never been the heir to the power of the Sith. He has been only a tool.

His whole life—all his victories, all his struggles, all his heritage, all his principles and his sacrifices, everything he’s done, everything he owns, everything he’s been, all his dreams and grand vision for the future Empire and the Army of Sith—have been only a pathetic sham, because all of them, all of him, add up only to this.

He has existed only for this. This.

To be the victim of Anakin Skywalker’s first cold-blooded murder.

First but not, he knows, the last.

Then the blades crossed at his throat uncross like scissors.

Snip.

And all of him becomes nothing at all"

Damn, this nearly brought me to tears. I've never really cared much for Dooku's character. To me he always just seemed like the cunning villain of the clone wars. But seeing his story told from Tales of the Jedi, through Attack of the Clones and The Clone Wars, into Revenge of the Sith and how he is just cast aside by Sidious after everything he sacrificed for him, now I can see that his story is just as tragic as any other character's.

After what happened to Qui Gon and his decision to leave and stand up to his former friends, Dooku might be one of the most interesting characters in the entire series.

Count Dooku is a HIGHLIGHT of a character from the prequel era. Such a tragic character, yet so tangible and real. Thank you for this edit.

It's sad how Yoda was so blinded he saw Dooku as completely fallen to the dark side in his visions... Dooku never fell and never gave in fully to the dark side.. he always kept his Jedi eyes... he could always be redeemed.

Dooku is what happens when a profound philosopher is also a nearly unrivalled warrior and politician with his own ideals and morals. He becomes a conflicted, introspective force for change, who never stops wondering himself if the change he's bringing is change for the better, or for the worse.

I truly believe that Jocasta Nu was right about Dooku.

Dooku never became a Sith at heart. He lost faith in the Jedi and tried to pursue an actual political career while still doing the bidding of his Master Darth Sidious, who he hated and wanted to actually kill.

Dooku never was an actual villain. He just had a different POV.
