Count Dooku is one of my favourite Prequel Era Characters. He started out with a respectable goal but gradually began to lose sight of his goal.

He’s an underrated Star Wars character.

The Jedi had too much pride, and Dooku knows all too well, that twice the pride, double the fall. Oh, what happened to the Jedi Order? That’s right, it fell...

Dooku's story reminds me of Prosett Dibbs. Both saw how the Jedi preferred the tactical advantages a planet desired, not the lives affected by the crises.

The audio drama was great and definitely needs a sequel exploring Dooku actually becoming a Sith. The seeds are there, but we are still missing the step from ex-Jedi to Sith Lord

One could say...they couldn't count on him....

I'll see myself out

If you think about it his friendship with Sypho Dias is incredibly ironic. Because they both saw the clone Wars visions, Sypho makes the clones which the Jedi use to fight Count Dooku's army and Order 66 (which technically happened because of Sypho) caused the downfall of the separatist. Idk I just find that interesting

A possible interpretation of things that preserves the essence of the "Qui-gon's death pushed Dooku over the edge" is that while Dooku left the Order long before that, he didn't start going to the Dark Side until after Episode I. This actually makes a lot of sense - Palpatine wasn't looking for a new apprentice until then, after all. Perhaps Qui-gon's death added to Dooku's belief that working within the system was impossible, and that he was going to have to completely wipe the Jedi Order away in order to fix it.

I finished marathoning the prequel trilogy era and I think I understand now that the Jedi were indeed flawed. At least we know now that Dooku's decision to leave wasn't as black and white we once thought

I think Count Dooku would be by far the most interesting character in Star Wars if he was never a full on sith.

These Dooku-related stories should have been Episode One, in my opinion. It would have given the audience a better understanding for WHY the Jedi order was failing and WHY various planets were leaving the Republic. Even if everything remained the same in Episodes II and III, I think an explanation of Dooku's motivations and how the seeds of the Clone Wars were planted would have greatly blunted some of the criticism that the prequels got.

Don't get me wrong. I'm still a big time Star Wars fan. And I loved the prequels. For all their flaws, they didn't deserve the hate they got.

However, the biggest problem with the prequels is "The Phantom Menace." And the biggest problem with that film is that while the story is kinda interesting, it just doesn't feel RELEVANT to the saga! You can remove that film from the prequels, start at Episode II, and still have an understanding of everything going on. I understand that the whole POINT (or one of the whole points) of Episode One was to show how Palpatine manufactured a crisis so that he could put himself in that position of power (Supreme Chancellor). But the story of Episode II hardly seems relevant to the first movie. You don't NEED to know how he got there because it's just not relevant.

I really like this backstory.
I prefer the noble causes to him just having been manipulated by Palpatine.
That would have been somewhat simplistic.

Why clone Wars so good, u learn so much more about characters like darth tyranus . Liked the prequels but clone war series added so much . sounds like great back story to count dooku

Legends wise according to Yoda Dooku would of been his equal on the council not just in rank but in power and skill had he not left the order Dookus force potential was so upper tiered that Yoda went out of retirment to train Dooku mono e mono for that main reason it also helped that Dooku came to the order at a younger age then Anakin so in Legends Dookus potential in the force was a little above Maces and either tied with or just a mini vany underneath Yodas yeah.

I really loved the audio drama. Ive always loved Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus (my favorite of the Sith Lords we see in the films) and I really think the backstory given here was really really good. I wanted a little more of his time with Qui-Gon but perhaps in the future.

Would love a video on how he uses Force Lightning in this. It seems he uses it several times as a Jedi despite it being a power of the dark side. Does this mean that force lightning could be harnessed by some jedi or only the ones who are open to the dark side as Dooku clearly was several times in the book.

Also LOVED SYFO-DIAS being so present here.

The more you hear about the Jedi and its problems, the less enticing it is to even want to be part of them.
