Thank you for diving into the hormonal issues behind postpartum weightloss. It took me 4 babies before I REALLY understood that I needed to be patient with my body and focus on my baby instead of my looks. I needed to focus on recovering my strength and health, not my pre-pregnancy clothing size. It's a harsh world and I always had an imagine of what I should look like. I learned my baby doesn't care, my husband understands, and God created me in his image.

Once i started to prioritize high protein food all my problems went away. Not plant based protein. Meat. eggs. I started to steadily lose weight and keep my supply up. Eating lots of nutrient dense animal foods is so important. 9 months postpartum currently and I’ve been back to my pre- pregnancy weight for a while now. I was eating vegetarian until baby was about 4 months old and I was having so many problems. Introduced meat again for the first time in 18 years and my body is loving it.

7 months postpartum with my third and I was just texting my sister about how annoying it is that most of the postpartum weight loss videos out there are from 20-somethings with their first child. It's so good to have your perspective!

I will want to come back to this comment in the future and I hope it helps others too!
Here are the foods Ashley recommends to balance out hormones:
- dark leafy greens (at least 1-2 cups per day)
- garlic & onions
- walnuts & almonds
- beans (chickpeas, black beans, pinto beans, lentils)
- sweet potatoes & butternut squash
- berries (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries)
- free range eggs
- free range, grass fed beef
- whole wheat bread
- oatmeal

This video was not what I was looking for but exactly what I needed! Sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves to go against our health, and our bodies and our baby’s needs, in the hopes of looking like we’re just like those “other moms” who can just “bounce back so easily”.
Thank you for the encouragement and helpful information

You’re one of the first to say something so important like this. Women have been pressured to lose the weight and snap back and wonder why they can’t sustain a breastfeeding relationship up to 6 months . I’d like to see more women celebrating nursing into toddlerhood

This is so key, and not talked about by doctors!!! Love how you support women and all the knowledge you have on post partum healing and weight loss!

This comes at the perfect time for me... I was just complaining to my husband last night about my postpartum body and losing weight at 2 months pp. He was saying that's not important right now and then I get this video notification this morning. Seems like God is telling me to take it easy on myself. I plan to EBF my baby for as long as possible so knowing the hormone response is eye opening. Thank you for this <3

thank you for this video, i needed this! I Did all the free prenatal workouts during pregnancy and am on the 12 week PP plan now. I am 9 weeks PP and am EBF my little one and have been feeling down on myself having gained a couple pounds since delivery. So hungry all the time! working out, walking whenever i can as i take care of my pelvic floor but cant seem to loose the last 5-7 lbs. used to love jogging but gave it up starting 3rd trimester. I need to just giving myself grace and keep doing what i can. My body knows what it needs to do as long as i continue to care for it as best i can. I think its been extra hard with a colic baby as i have been eliminating dairy, eggs, brassicas, onion an garlic to see if it helps her! hopefully we will both turn a corner soon! thank you for your passion and info as always and reminding us we are supporting our babes and the best way to do that is take care and love ourselves. everything will work itself out mamas!

What’s really frustrating is people’s judgement. So many moms are like “come work out” like I’m 6 months post partum and I’m exhausted af. No weightloss will happen if I’m not sleeping lol

4th baby. 6 months postpartum and breastfeeding. Hashimotos after baby 2. So grateful for my body and babies, but was also researching Costco ozempic (half joking) before this. I just want to be strong and healthy. Thank you for this video! It's easy to fall prey to the internal and external pressures.

This was such a good explanation. I felt like I was going to cry from relief and understanding. As a mom who has done extended breastfeeding with my kids, I always felt like I was doing something wrong when I would “bounce back” quickly only to have weight creep back and then be a struggle to lose. 😢 I’m working on consistent exercise, nourishing my body, and giving myself some grace in this season. I do need to be better about sipping water throughout the day though, I get busy and don’t think about it until I’m parched!

Thank you thank you! I needed to hear this so badly! Been feeling very stressed and depressed about not losing hardly any weight since having my 4th baby 10 months ago. I don’t fit most of my clothes and I still look 4/5 months pregnant. I’m still trying to finish the 12 week PPP. I mostly eat meals from your mommy cookbook and I love them, you have given me some amazing tools I just need to stay positive and keep my chin up! Please keep the informative & motivating videos coming 🫶🏻

I needed to hear that intro. I feel so self conscious about my post partum belly and weight. My baby is healthy and happy because I’m feeding myself to feed my baby.

Thank you, Ashley! This was, once again, such a timely video from you. With my first pregnancy I was unable to breastfeed and was so devastated. This time around I prayed and prayed for it and now that we are here, I find it so hard to accept the day to day realities of nursing a baby. I constantly hear the message “the weight will melt off when you breastfeed”, which is it the true story for all women. I even heard this in the hospital! I am surrounded by women trying to lose weight by this date or this event and the pressure can feel immense. My body feels foreign and I struggle with postpartum anxiety/depression. This video was a reminder of the grace I need to show myself. That my body is for her as much as it is for me and I need to refocus on eating for flourishing rather than losing weight. I am so excited to meal plan this week with the recipes from the 10 minute plan and Mom cookbook. Thank you for taking the fear out of eating and being where we are. God is working through you, Mama!

If there is one thing I could say to a new mom, it's take care of yourself and your baby. That first year flies by and before you know it, that baby is no longer a baby anymore. Focus on nourishing yourself and what an amazing body that you've been given and focus less on what you "think" you should look like.
Ashley, I love this video. More moms need to hear this message. Thank you for all that you do!
