Lentil Oat Burgers | Vegan Burger | The Pot Thickens

You can make this healthy burger recipe easily at home. This is a nutritious and delicious lentil burger patty made with oats. It is a low fat baked burger that has a crisp exterior and a moist and meaty interior.

Ingredients:
2 cups water
1 1/2 cup walnuts
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 large onion coarsely chopped
1 large carrot coarsely chopped
4 cloves garlic roughly chopped
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp onion powder
salt and black pepper to taste

Cook lentils in water until softened, about 20 minutes. Drain any excess water. Meanwhile, in a food processor, grind walnuts and oats. Add vegetables and process until somewhat fine. Add chickpea flour along with the herbs and spices and pulse. Add the drained lentils and process until combined into a ground meat consistency. Place in a bowl and refrigerate for about 2 hours. Form into patties. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake at 400 °F for 25 minutes turning the patties over after the first 10 minutes. Place on a bun and top with your favorite toppings and enjoy!

My people are meat eaters, but I am working my way through a cancer issue and was having trouble finding food I can eat. The cancer has me on a restricted diet, this is exactly what I needed, a high protein food of some sort, and I came across this. Thank you, I have found a food that I can really enjoy and not break my dietary restrictions.

I've tried a number of vegan burgers and your lentil-based recipe is the best! I used coconut aminos in place of maggi, omitted the Italian herbs and added nutritional yeast, smoked paprika, cooked mushrooms and ketchup. Thank you!

I made these for dinner tonight. I had a few stumbles along the way. I usually just make written recipes, this was my first YouTube recipe, and I neglected some of the parts of the video (like chilling the mixture for 2 hours). I didn’t grind them as smooth as the video shows but I preferred seeing the lentils in the burger. Overall it’s a very tasty and super filling burger. As the meat eater among us said ‘it’s a great burger and I like thats it’s not actually trying to be meat’. The thing I liked best was that the patty stayed quite firm, usually when I have scratch made veggie burgers they smash into a paste that falls apart. Overall this got thumbs up from all 3 Alpha Es. Thanks for sharing.

I saw this video first thing in the morning and was happy to find out that i have all the ingredients in my pantry and fridge. The steps are simple to follow, i had trouble getting my kitchen aid blender to blend the dry mixture in the beginning and was worried a bit but after adding the lentils it worked perfectly well. The result was something that totally satisfied my taste buds and very filling as well. I would totally be happy if they serve me this at a vegan restaurant. Thank you for making my day(s)!!❤❤❤

I made these veggie burgers and everyone loved them. I used ground cumin and a fresh jalapeño. They turned out great. I doubled the amount and put the cooked burgers in freezer. They were delicious! Thank you!

Nice job Greg explaining the differences of the lentils and what they bring to this particular dish.
I like Maggi because of the amino acids it lends to food.
These burgers it looks great.
