I have had trouble with lentil patties/burgers falling apart when they hit the pan or when I flip them, even if I add a bit of binder like breadcrumbs. I solved this by letting the formed, uncooked patties rest in the fridge for maybe 30 minutes. It definitely helps keep them from disintegrating when they hit the hot oil.

This is the most helpful comment section I’ve ever read on YouTube. They are definitely worth reading before making this recipe. Placing the mixture in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before frying and making sure the pan and oil is hot enough seems to be the most common suggestion to make them easier to flip.

A lot of people mixed in a small amount of flour or chia seed gel as a binder. There are several people suggesting additional spice variations for flavor. Someone mentioned wrapping them into a tortilla and adding sandwich fixings (lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, avocado or whatever you prefer) and condiments or sauces. Another person put them on top of pasta and added pasta sauce. Wow!!

Thanks for sharing. It’s great to see everyone contributing.

I made this today but instead of making patties I put the entire mixture in a well greased 9x13 glass pan and baked at 350 for 20 to 25 minutes. The result was easy to cut squares that are absolutely delicious.

I rolled these into balls, coated them in olive oil, pressed them slightly in the airfryer and cooked them for 10 minutes on each side. They turn out crunchy all over and are quite the treat!

God bless the non-verbal creators! Just chill music, excellent graphics, and clear instructions! No "what's up guys!" or commands to "smash" the like button.

These look delicious and I'm certainly going to try them, but as someone who's been making veggie patties for years I find that the insides are soft and squishy if you just cook them in the frypan. Brown them in hot oil as shown, but if you want them truly firm, pop them in a pre-heated oven on 180 deg Celcius (350 F) for 15-20 minutes and they'll be absolutely perfect.

You know what I love about this vegan recipe? This doesn't try to "imitate" meat. It just takes the ingredients and tries to make them as tasty as they can be without trying to be as tasty as something else is. This is how vegan dishes should be.

Not vegetarian, but enjoy a meatless meal now and again. These were excellent. I made the recipe exactly as stated, except for using coconut oil instead of olive oil. They came out really nice and crispy outside, firm inside. Fully cooked through. Served mine with fresh cucumber, cherry tomatoes, dill pickle, carrot, and a homemade ranch dressing with lots of fresh green onion, chives, fresh garlic and parsley. Seriously good!

I have a tip for all cooks. Make sure to use the dull side of your knife to scrape food off your cutting board. Using it the other way dulls your knife.

I cooked this. Left the mix overnight because I was too tired to finish it last night. They were so easy to make, so delicious and filling! This is an absolute favorite for me, thank you so much for the simple and quiet video, the clear instructions and accessible ingredients ❤️

Made these yesterday, was my second try, and both times it came out so delicious. I really can't stop eating they are so addictive. Yesterday I made it with a brown onion as that is all I had in the pantry, and added a little bit if crushed ginger and a tiny amount of siracha and it was amazing. Thank you for teaching this recipe to me, it will become all time staple. ❤

I tried this recipe and added 2 tablespoons of chickpea flour as a binder and it is delicious. I couldn’t stop eating them. It does feel like I’m eating meat. I made my patties thinner and smaller to look more a patty sausage. Absolutely delicious!

Thank you for this recipe. I made it today and followed the recipe. I fried it till it was much darker in color. Otherwise, they couldn't be flipped to the other side. For others who are thinking about making it, this recipe is mild in flavor, so you can add your own seasoning to it, make it indian or other way. I divided the batch into the original recipe and second batch into indian style with these ground seasonings: cumin, coriander, cayenne, clove, tumeric, cinnamon, and more salt and pepper. Overall, successful recipe.

these were MAGNIFICENT! i used 1/2 a red onion, 30 grams of oat flour, 1 tbsp dried thyme, 2 tsp each of garlic and onion powder, 1 tsp sriracha, 1 tsp salt *it was perfect and not too salty!* 1/2 tsp pepper, 3 cloves garlic and the small carrot. i soaked the lentils for 4 hours and wasn't sure if the mixture once divided, would stick together. i refrigerated the 10 patties for an hour, fried them on each side for 3 minutes each and everyone LOVED them. they will be on our weekly menu - thanks so much for a super recipe and greetings from Canada!

WE TRIED TODAY. OMG. SO TASTY. LENTILS DID HOLD PERFECTLY WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL BINDERS. SO TASTY. I WILL BE MAKING THESE EVERY WEEK ❤❤❤❤

I made this recipe using chia seeds soaked in a little bit of water for binding as another commenter suggested. The patties cooked up nicely using this method. They have a great flavor and a lovely crunchy texture. Topped with full fat Greek yogurt these lentil patties are very satisfying! Many thanks for a simple, easy, and delicious recipe!

These were great! I added lemon, cumin, aleppo pepper, and sweet paprika.
I tossed in some of my homemade sour dough bread to make bread crumbs for a binder. I also put in the fridge for 40 minutes before frying. Perfect! Sooo good. 😊

Excellent thanks for the recipe. The key to the patties not falling apart when you cook them is to use soaked split lentils and beans. Never cook them beforehand or use canned lentils or beans. It's the same principle as when makeg falafel. Never use cooked chick peas and or fava beans. Soak them for a day or so and use the food processor to grind them up with other required ingredients. Never fails.
