I got severe breakage, stringy, hair loss from years of dyes and bleaches on the last months, nothing was working until i finally decided to cut it all off. Best choice i could've done . My hair feels soft and silky again and my natural hair color is growing out again . I got a soft silky long pixie, almost a short bob and feels much better than before. Cutting it definitely helps with damage ! 🥰🥰🥰

I know this video is a little old but maybe you still need help or maybe someone else needs help with a similar problem. I hope you found a solution already but if you’re still having issues then I took the time out to type everything I’m sharing with you now:)

I don’t know if anyone has ever told you but the way us black women maintain our hair is not just for us it’s for anyone. Be gentle of your hair even if it’s straight. It still breaks just like ours if we are too rough with our bended and twisted hair. And also satin pillow cases and bonnets are not just for our hair. They are for anyone with hair.

You’re gunna need to focus more product and gentleness on that section of hair. When you apply your treatment put it there first so it gets the treatment the longest. Treatments like oils mixed with lavender, peppermint, tea tree, and so on. And henna if you don’t mind the color of henna. Even Jamaican black castor oil is for you. Not just for us.

Use deep conditioners. And focus heavily on that area first when applying treatments to build it and grow it back. And when you use deep conditioners alternate between protein deep conditioner which will help build the strength and moisturizing deep conditioner which will help it to be soft when it’s needed. Also try the black hair care brands also. Test them out too. Don’t be afraid or ashamed. You never know.

When you shampoo your hair try to alternate between cowash cleansers and regular shampoos. Cowashes strip your hair of moisture less but cleanses really good if you’re not using a lot of products which I’m sure you may not. But many black girls tend to use a lot of products like oils, gels, waxes, mosses, and creams. So some of us need to use cowashes and stronger shampoos every other wash.

So for example when you get ready to shampoo your hair. You would alternate like this. Shampoo with a moisturizing shampoo or a cowash and after that go in with a protein deep conditioner to balance the moisture and protein. Always use a leave in after deep conditioning and if you heat style always use heat protection spritz. Honestly try to use a low setiting or try not to use heat at all or very little. Especially in that area use a low setting or wear styles that don’t require hair straightening.

Then the next time you wash your hair you will alternate the shampoo and deep conditioner like this. Use a regular shampoo. Not a strong one if you don’t use a lot of products. Unless you do. And then after you shampoo then this time you will use a moisturizing deep conditioner. For the balance of protein and moisture.

I would start with the first one to get that section strong. So start with the first shampoo and deep conditioner treatment above this one and then next time you shampoo use this one and then keep alternating like this back and forth.

Now if your hair feels too soft like it doesn’t have strength then you would use the protein deep conditioner. And then if your hair feels too hard like it will snap or break like wood LOL then you use the moisturizing deep conditioner.

Always follow the exact instructions on the product label. Do not follow nikiana and Kiki and leave it longer than it says too. If you do then that’s on you not the Brand. Also always do a patch test before covering your entire head. The Brand may not say it but still do it.

Oh and if you do not like oils in your hair it’s ok. They still work after you wash them out. You can use them as prepping and going with shampoo after wards and they still give your hair the same benefits as just leaving them in there. Click this link below. I discovered this woman earlier today actually. She has really cute bonnets if you like to try it.

Happy hair growth and good health.❤️🙏🏽

Been there, hold one, lovely! With time and patience, you can absolutely keep your length! I stayed platinum blonde with waist length hair while growing out damage too. No expensive products, just NEVER brush wet hair, and avoid tangles as much as possible (wear a braid, and sleep in a satin bonnet). Brushing is where most breakage will happen if your hair is compromised. Coconut on mids and ends before washing is good too. I’m convinced lifestyles factors like this work so much better than olaplex or k18!

1. Oil your ends befor washing to protect them
2. Use a leave in conditioner to protect your hair after washing
3. Use bind repair conditioner

You honestly don’t need to cut all your hair off. I was in this situation last year but worse. Use the Redken extreme collection, there is one for bleached hair. My exact routine was Olaplex N3, shampoo and deep condition with Redken extreme, Redken anti-snap leave in conditioner. Fekkai protein powerbond mist which is a awesome heat protectant and blow dry then straighten with CHI thermal spray. Then I will make sure to oil my mids and ends with Olaplex N7.

I have a friend who died the whole hair blonde, she had DAMAGED hair, her parents were telling her to dye it back to black (her natural hair color). She did and had colored treatment on her hair. Her hair settled for a while, still a bit damaged, then after 6-8 months it got better for her, she wanted to dye it again so she waited for a couple of years and dyed it moderately, she takes perfect care of her hair and takes plentiful colored hair treatments.

I’m dealing with this same problem. After months of trying literally everything & spending so much $ on products & trying to let it grow, I’ve finally decided to cut it. I’m going with a cute pixie I found that suits my face shape. I definitely had to take the time needed to mourn my length & accept this is all I can do, cut it off & start from new. My hair in my pic is from 3 years ago, it’s mind blowing at what 2 1/2 yrs of bleach & extreme stress will do to your hair.

You simply cannot “save” damaged hair. You had to get atleast a chop. So that the oil shaft continues to slide through the hair. Cause if you have brittle dry dead ends, They will continue to split but your roots will still grow but appear more thicker at the top while your ends can make your hair look thinner then what your hair naturally is.

Girl...no joke you seriously need to cut all that damage off!
That hair is so damaged those split ends could split all the way up and cause follicular damage, which is permanent.
There is no saving it and please don't dye it or put any products in it (even deep conditioner) it will only make it worse.
For your hairs health, you need to cut it off.

I feel you, had a bad bleach job and the salon wont even own up on damaging my hair to the end results of breakage...I'm so sorry you go through this and I hope your hair got better by now

what i would do in this situation:

Buy some olaplex, it's expensive but invest in at least one of the products for after-color care, i'd recommend probably the No. 4 and 5 (bond strengthening shampoos and conditioners) and the No. 7 bond strengthening oil ESPECIALLY on the ends and at the points of breakage.

If you want to dye your hair, i'd go back to brown to make it look healthier, using pure indigo and henna (henna strengthens your hair but is very very premanent because it bonds to the actual proteins in your hair, so you will NOT get the orange out of your hair EVER just FYI) but if you don't want to go back to brown, use semi-permanent color ONLY, like manic panic, arctic fox, good dye young, etc.

If it needs to be mixed with a developer don't put it in your hair, it will cause further damage. You could also probably benefit from a good haircut and especially on the damaged ends, because those breaks will keep splitting up the hair shaft and it'll just break more and get even shorter over time

😢 mine hurts so bag even if I gently comb it. The pain is in my roots from throwing it in a simple loose ponytail. Pray for me!! Lol I might just get light layers and light dusting trim.

If you want to dye it, try a color depositing conditioner or a gloss. Most of them are formulated as hair masks and they color your hair. Obviously it’s not permanent color, but it’s a good option for damaged hair

Professional dye has miusturizwrs in it to make your hair softer and healthier than box dye, my aunt had extremely damaged bleach hair then she dyed it and the difference was amazing not only will your hair look healthier it will feel slightly healthier

Use semi permanent which is conditioning to dye your hair all dark. It won't damage it and it will help you maintain the little that you have left until you're ready to chop it off

I feel your pain and have similar damage. Loose bun and silk silk cap at night, cost ends in argan oil daily just the bottom one inch and coat whole head in argan oil weekly for an hour and wash out

I’d suggest dying it to at least preserve the remaining strands but also help introduce color “protein” to give the blonde something to “eat” since the blonde stripped it of everything for a prolonged period. I’d also suggest a protein treatment your stylist can do or you can do yourself via a beauty supply store, help it strengthen your blonde hair so it won’t be as fragile/delicate as it is now. Please also cut down on heat and use silk pillows and scrunchies etc so the hair has the least friction as possible
