In this blender (2.8) tutorial we go over how to use render regions. This enables you to render only a part of your view (speeding up cycles and render times)

Step 1:
Hit ctrl+b and select some render region

Step 2:
Enable border in the render output tab (if you only want to render the region)

Step 3 (Optional):
Enable crop in the render output tab (to crop into this regions during render)

Hit Ctrl + B and select-drag over the region you want to render, or hit Ctrl + Alt + B to disable render region.

PLEASE in addition to showing hot keys also show where to find features in the menu systems as not everyone uses the same hot keys or is adept at using them yet. Thank you!

THX for the tip. It doesn't work for equirectangular renders, right? I mean, final renders... :)

Is it possible to save region you marked for recalling it in future. Or to manage several different regions?

Thanks! Is there any way to keep the existing rendering underneath? I am used to this from 3ds-Max and it is useful to see the rest or compare different settings ...

So- say you'd done the render in full before and realised afterwards that you want to change a single element of it- I appreciate you could rerender into a different file having isolated the bit you want to change (ie changed it and rendered only that region)- how then would you combine the two in the sequence editor?

After rendering I do composition by alpha over node to draw rendered transparent image on top of other. Unfortunately render region also crops composite image, is there a simple way to disable render region during composition ?
