This is a fantastic explanation of how these old but great watkins tape loops (copiecats) work.
Great video. Many thanks and hope to see more like this.

There must have been many variations of the super IC. My one has an external motor transformer. The ICs are KA741 345 A and my power lead is over 6 foot long. Very interesting video. Thanks.

The text on the motor says "オイル" which means "oil" so together with the arrow it means "put the oil here" which makes sense since it's a felt pad that will absorb and distribute oil to the bearings :)

Hi Tim, thank you very much for your clear explanation of the circuit, especially the part of the combined erase/recording head.
It helped me servicing the unit. I had to replace the capacitors from the power supply because they wear leaking.
Everything works fine, but I have a question.
The motor gets hot (50° C) after running for 15 minutes. Is this normal?

Hello Tim, great video, it's super interesting.
i have a super IC and i was taking a look to understand if it's possible to implement a sound on sound switch on the copicat, like the one present on the Multivox.
since the super IC has a combination head do you have any advice? on the schematic that you explain it shows a switch on the wiring that goes to the the erase part, do you think it will be enough?
thank you in advance.
