I read some where that the shortbread simple recipe is 2-4-6.
2 measures of sugar.
4 measures of butter.
6 measures of flour.
And a pinch of salt.

Flour, castor sugar, butter and salt. Never put powdered sugar in shortbread. That's just wrong. Also, piece the shortbread before baking. It helps the shortbread bake drier to make it have a good snap. Shortbread shouldn't be that soft. Cheers fae Scotland

You poke the holes before baking. It helps release extra steam from the cookies.

Thaaaank you for paying attention to detail with a fine sugar. It's just a cookie if you don't. Looks wonderful, but do the holes prior. I'm going to try this recipe.

everybody makes it different and we all sware our way is the best.
i knew somebody who rolled the dough out and used cookie cutters.
i use the 2 4 6, sprinkle with sugar before baking, leave it in the pan til its cool.

very similar to my basic butter cookies recipe i got from the actual baker who made them when I was in junior high school. best butter cookies ever...which is why walkers shortbread are so delicious!!

They are undercooked. The holes made with a fork should be done before baking as this helps the heat permeate through.

You should poke it with a fork before baking because it helps moisture escape and the cookies to bake more evenly. Poking it with a fork afterwards serves no purpose.

No you prick the dough before you bake it, this is done to allow the steam to escape easily so it doesnt rise.. its not just a random design aesthetic they thought would look neat

Does it make a difference if i cut it before i cook the dough ? This is luxurious they will be divine if i can get it all to come together.
I will have to add many minutes of extra jogging so i can endulge. Thank you for the video
