The 80s and 90s...peak Pax Americana. What a wonderful time it was and somehow we knew it. It showed in the way we looked forward to the future. Perhaps we didn't appreciate it as much as we should have, but most of us couldn't have imagined the world as it is today. Oh sure, some will say they knew all along, but outside of a few, no one expected this. It's a shame how disconnected we all are, how distrustful of one another we've become. I miss those times so much. The music, the video stores, the glow of the television set, the waiting in line for concert tickets, the way conversation was sometimes the only thing we had to entertain ourselves, the not knowing the answer to a random thought that popped into my mind and the longing to know the answer. I miss it all.

I adjunct at a local college, teaching American History, and trying to describe this time to my students is so difficult, because they've never experienced anything like it in their lifetimes.
People waited in line or at a bus stop and just talked to those around them...without it getting heated every time. People congregated at movie theaters or shopping malls or parks to share activities with friends, or maybe to find new ones. People had a sense of optimism about tomorrow being better than today that was so strong, you could almost touch it.
Those who were there need no explanation. Those who weren't missed one hell of a time.
This was the world I came from, and I'd give anything I own to have it back.

Seeing the Towers makes me tear up. Not only for the lives lost, but for the way life changed after that. But for now thanks to this video I can think about warm yellow lamps, the smell of VHS tapes, kind big-haired teachers with apple brooches, Reading Rainbow, and holidays feeling on time, and not too soon.

Today's my birthday
Alone at 29 and broke
Wish I was a happy kid in the 1990s
But I was born in 1995

this isn't just your average retrowave that leans too much on cliche carpenter soundtracks, this is the REAL heartfelt 90s feel-good romantic comedy type stuff, this is fantastic. nobody is trying to capture this stuff!! this is what I've waited for!

This video brings back so many memories of those late-night drives, where the city lights and quiet roads provided a calming escape from the chaos of everyday life.
It reminds me of those tranquil moments when I would gaze out at the city from my car, feeling the world slow down and my mind find peace in the gentle hum of the night.
It’s amazing how something as simple as this can evoke such powerful feelings of peace and reflection. 🚗🌃✨

I remember being a kid driving towards NYC and seeing the twin towers, my mom pointing them out to me.

I also remember in high school going to ground zero during Christmas a few months after it happened and seeing the massive hole in the ground, and fences lined with missing people papers and goodbyes ❤

in 1996 I was 6 years a old, I used to go and look behind the boutiques show case glasses to just listen to these type of music, I was so poor, I couldn't afford anything but life was so simple and beautiful then. nowadays the world became like a jungle with so much horrific movements.

Aww, this is very very nostalgic for me, I feel like back to 80s and 90s. This is so magical. For the visuals, it makes me very comfortable being a city person. Being at night which is not too crowded and not too quiet in the middle of the city with many tall skyscrapers is a very comfortable time.
