Bom Dia, I have tried this in Spanish before. Spanish speakers are usually willing to help me. Cómo se dice. Its time to try Como se diz. Very good Advice!

I was eating pork cheeks for the first time in a snack bar where they spoke very little English and they asked if I liked the food. And I said, "Nao e duro..." and I used my hands to show a reverse and the owner said, "é macia" so your opposite trick worked for me and as a bonus, I don't think I will ever forget the word, "macia."

Short-tempered in colloquial Portuguese can be said "Tem o pavio curto", meaning "pavio" (corda que servia para dar ignição a uma bomba) and "curto" (short), that is he/she easily explodes.

"Este palavra existe?" pergunto muitas vezes, porque as vezes eu "invento" palavras, quando não estou certo, se este palavra está certo.

Great suggestions. I usually try the last one since I have some Spanish knowledge. Your videos are great.

Love these, Liz! I guess words the time based on English/Spanish (with mixed success, but it keeps the Convo flowing!)... but often I'll say "o que é a palavra em Portuguese por "irritable"... And people typically smile and tell me because I have shown my cards that I am a beginner and learning... These are more elegant though, I'm going to be trying #1 and #2 for sure!

Boas dicas! Aprendi uma palavra nova também….irritável! Consigo descrever-me melhor agora! 🤣

Apesar da maioria dos Portugueses dominarem o inglês, gostaria que postasse um vídeo totalmente em Português. O inverso de "calmo", pode ser "nervoso". Um grande abraço.

A big tip is never be afraid of getting stuff wrong. Just go for it, that is how you learn and if you are embarrassed, don’t, chances are the person you are speaking with Has less knowledge of your mother tongue than you have of theirs, so there… never feel bad about getting words wrong!

There’s also the Hail Mary of being stuck for words: acting it out! _Como se diz em português? calme, calme, calme, ahhhhahhhhahhhaahhh!_

You might get the answer, but you’ll certainly give them a laugh.

Obrigado! Otima aula! Eu vou ao Lisboa amanha, e estou um pouco nervoso que eu nao entenderei ninguem. No momento, eu acho mais facil para entender os brasileiros que os portugues. Tu podes me dar umas pontas?
