Edelbrock carburetor heat soak/hard starting issues

If you are running an Edelbrock carburetor and having heat soak issues , try one of these Edelbrock #8725 phenolic spacers!

I was experiencing hard starting on the 1971 C10 after long drives and then trying to restart 15-30 mins later. Even with the rubber heat insulator gasket Edelbrock recommended, the carburetor was too hot to touch.

Now, with the new spacer-even after a long hard run-the carb is cool to the touch! These are available on Amazon, or at your local parts house. Highly recommended!

UPDATE: it’s been a month now, and I can say for certain that the wood spacer has completely cured the heat soak/percolation issue!!!

If you’re having issues I highly recommend giving one a try!

And also try to route your fuel line to your mechanical pump away from the engine because that line gets quite warm and it turns the fuel to vapor try to get some type of wrap around it like I did with my fuel lines it will help a whole lot

I love the edelbrock. I hate holley. I hate having to do all the tuning that's required on the holley. For something you plan on driving alot. Edelbrock is the way to go

Great video. I have 1965 c10. After long drives it takes 10 minutes to restart. I get no click no crank. Not even radiator fan turns on. But lights turn on. On some videos they say heat soak comes from starter. I have headers on my truck. Would love to hear your suggestions

Only way I was able to stop that heat soaked in my 1968 Catalina was to make a reserve line going back to the gas tank I put electrical fuel pump going to my mechanical fuel pump just the prime it like a little shot of nitrous then I turn it off and then the mechanical pump works it seems to be cooling my system down quite well with no issues it may work for you

My name is George from Apache Junction Az, i have a 1970c20, do you have a long nose water pump or short. It also looks like you have a copper/brass rad.
I HAD TO PUT A ALUNM. RAD . ON COULD NOT FIND A REG. RAD
WITH A SHORT WATER PUMP . WHAT TEMP. DOES YOUR RAD RUN .

The intake manifold appears to be aluminum you can block the exhaust going under the carb some aftermarket intake manifolds come with this blinded others don't you can add a couple of pieces of metal on each side.

Pull the intake off and install Felpro's gasket set part# 90322 with crossover passages blocked, no more boiling fuel, no more heat soak, problem solved!!!

Try an electric fan maybe your heat issues might be your fan clutch never have this problem carb getting hot, trial n error, timing to high
