I was at work when I heard John Hughes had passed. I was 40 years old at the time. My boss was 20 years older than me and my helper was 20 years younger. They couldn't quite understand the loss I felt. He truly was the voice of our generation.

I am an 80’s teen.
This was the first real loss I have felt for someone. I was genuinely upset.
His movies and their soundtracks were and always will be a reminder of a special time in my life.

One of my favorite movies 🎥 of all time is “Ferris Bueller‘s Day off”.
It’s not just a fun movie you can have a good time watching, it also has an important theme; dealing with someone who wants to commit suicide.
Ferris Bueller didn’t just skip school and have a day off he put in the time and effort to show Cameron there is more fun of living and have a great time.
Ferris is not a boring lazy paid psychiatrist who tells you, “Uhhu Uhhu Ok Ok, Suicide is bad” while they put you to a mental institute facility.
He is a good friend and shows you what’s life worth. Even though you have problems with parental issues such as Cameron’s father you can’t take your own life.
No matter what, Life is Good.

Yeah, John Hughes wrote and directed a LOT of good comedies, dramedies and dramas. I wonder wonder why Molly Ringwald turned down the lead role for "Pretty Woman" (Julia Roberts ended up getting the role), because while Julia Roberts did a good job IMO Molly Ringwald would've been better.
