Today I want to share an interesting tip to get rid of mucus in the sinuses.

This remedy may be beneficial if you’re experiencing:
• Postnasal drip
• Chronic rhinitis or sinusitis
• Sinus pressure
• Sinus headaches or cluster headaches
• Sinus allergies

Common treatments for nasal congestion are steroids, medications, or even surgery. But, these options can have side effects or complications.

One of the best natural remedies for mucus in the sinuses is hot peppers. You can consume hot peppers or use a nasal spray containing hot pepper.

This is very different from pepper spray—we’re talking about a very diluted solution.

Instead of suppressing mucus, the phytonutrient in hot peppers may help drain mucus from the sinuses and reduce nasal hyperactivity.

It can potentially help open the sinuses, drain the sinuses, and desensitize the mucus membranes in the sinuses. It’s also antimicrobial.

Try consuming cottage cheese to help neutralize the effects of consuming hot peppers if needed.

I boiled water and added chopped up garlic to it. Let it cool and did a nose rinse with it. It did burn but helped alot! I did it once a week for a few weeks and no longer do it because no need for it.

A Mexican grandma told us to put a pinch of salt under he tongue to counteract hot pepper heat—it works. I love HOT stuff & when my allergies are bad—we go for Indian food, which I always order “Indian hot”. Clears my sinuses REALLY fast, so the hot pepper thing makes perfect sense. I didn’t realize I could dilute & spray up my nose—GENIUS! I’m going to try it. I was in a bad head on tangle w/ a semi years ago & my whole face was shattered into bits & had to be rebuilt, so I don’t drain well & get LOTS of infections—definitely going to try this!

Thanks!

Omg every day at 6 am Dr. Berg posts about something that’s affecting me or someone I know. If I were a paranoid person I would think my phone is listening to me and giving my data directly to and only to Dr . Berg. Thank you for this. I’ve been suffering for weeks now. I can see a fungal infection inside my nostrils now and steroids and Amoxicillin have helped but it keeps coming back.

I had sinus surgery over a year ago and it really helped me, I'd say it's an 80% improvement. I still have some post nasal drip but my sinus pressure and headaches are 99% better.

If you are trying to get rid of mucus, the peppers will work, but the last thing you want to do is to calm the heat with a dairy product of any kind! This will only create more mucus for the sinuses! I would use a nasal spray, and if I consumed peppers then tough it out….NO DAIRY!

I used to live on sinus medicine. When I became a carnivore my sinuses cleared up. I still have a yearly sinus infection in the spring time but that's better than dealing with it year round. Thanks for the info so I can treat and reduce my next infection.

In my case the mucas is so thick I can feel it in my lungs. Haven't been able to catch my breath for a week. Hopefully I'll start feeling better today. Thank you.

I grind horseradish, put in the jar and cover with vinegar enough to keep it moist. Leave it in the fridge overnight and next day inhale couple times. If horseradish is fresh, usually after just one day your sinuses will be cleared. I used this 3 yrs ago and don’t have any sinus problems since then

Have them all :( I had sinus surgery because it got so bad I couldn't breathe through my nose. That really helped open my sinuses up but I have a continual nasal drip. Its especially bad in cold air whether its an air conditioner, fan, or cold air outside. Any wind in my face makes my nose run. I think I have sensitive or allergy eyes and the air blowing in my eyes causes my nose to run. I also have regular allergies. I was told by the doctor that did my surgery to throw away any over the counter nasal sprays. He said they are bad for you but at the time that was the only thing that would open my sinuses. I do believe its a hereditary condition because my mother was the same way. I can't eat any type of hot pepper. I do like radishes and horse radish. I'll try those and see if it helps :)

had sinus and operated on left nose more than 20 years ago. Through trial and error, discovered each time i consumed any sugary food, my nostril tract will be uncomfortable and some small blood spots. Surprisingly i stopped all forms of sugary food, those problems do not come back. Till today, i am careful with my food and my nose are healthy too.

Hot pepper is great for clearing sinus but a lot of people are sensitive and intolerant to hot pepper for various medical reasons
