How to Fix Cannot Access Shared Folder Error in Windows 11 (Networking)

Windows allows users to share files between systems which are on the same network, even if they aren’t physically connected. The folder administrator needs to allow access to the intended user and the Internet should be connected. However, users have reported that despite these conditions being fulfilled, they get the following error upon trying to access the shared driver:

When you try to connect to a network resource — another computer, mobile device, or printer, for example — from a Microsoft Windows computer, you'll occasionally encounter a "network path was not found" error message: Error 0x80070035. The computer cannot make a connection over the network with the other device. This error message is displayed:

I still have no clue why, but even after doing all of this it does not work. I have 2 computers on the same network connected by ethernet. I shared a drive connected to computer A. The share is supposedly setup so anyone can access it with 'Everyone' as one of the allowed user groups. I can see the share on Computer B but no matter what settings or groups I add it still gives me the access is denied thing. If anyone has any clue any insight is appreciated.

Im contemplating setting up a windows server in a vm to try and circumvent this relatively simple task.

Cool this worked, ty. It's still really hit or miss though. I'll often have to try opening the folder multiple times or even reboot the PCs. I wonder if it has to do with some of them running windows 10 and some 11. Microsoft pls.

smb was not even installed i could access my NAS w/o issues in Win 10. Your solution is not correct/accurate

Good info! But I think this is now at least partially fixed without needing SMB 1. I'm not entirely sure this covered my issue. I can see the NAS and click to open the list of shares. However, I seem to only be able to select "Open in a new window" to access files. Also, once a share is pinned to the Quick access it acts normally. Any ideas for this?

Done this exact same thing on both computers. One computer I can see mine and my wife's computer. But can't connect to hers. Says network path not found. On hers, she can't even see mine. I've tried switching to private and public with the exact same settings. Both have active shares going. And nothing. Why the hell does Windows always have to be such a pain in the ass? I ran into this exact same issue in Windows 10 and after 1000 different things it did work eventually, but I have no idea which thing finally did it. I'm so over it.

I'm using a local aministrator account, but every time I try to map or connect to a shared folder in a server, win11 will always ask for an email credentials. Help?

Sad to say that after following all steps, I still cannot access my network shared drives. I can see them and am connected but cannot open any of them. I am getting a "do not have permissions..." error. I have checked my credentials on both PCs and they seem fine. Could this be the result of one PC running Windows 10 Pro and the other Windows 11 Pro?

I have done all these steps on both computers, sometimes they see the shared drives, but still can not access. Passwords are off!
